They were big in 1985/86. But the following album Street Fighting Years was not suited for the US market. Too much political (Biko, Mandela Day), too much European (Belfast Child, Soul Crying Out). By the time they started to re-focus on the US in the early 90s, the whole music industry had shifted to grunge and techno. U2 was right in time to flirt with the dance/techno rock sound in the 90s. A sound that, normally speaking, would have suited Simple Minds even better with their synth electro background.

Interesting, but not rockin' my world. Better effort than U2's attempt (done fairly early in their career?). They put in considerable effort to make it their own. :) Jim Kerr's looking like Geoffrey Rush with a decent haircut, but it's all in good fun.

No, Patti Smith's delivery is much better and works better with the acoustic guitar. Also, you can't leave out the poem at the end. Sorry... 🎵 Her's is mem-orable, but not his. It is forgetful for sure... I'm dancing barefoot music 🎶
