Something I found that worked in Florida waters was Zero ground balance and all metal mode. I got a lot of falsing in beach mode, but all metal was quite good on solid targets.

Thanks! I got the Simplex as a first detector... steep learnings at the beach... haven't really used it underwater - need a wetsuit first! (Ireland) ... however, we have found plenty of hot rocks and ferrous as well as the usual can-slaw and other assorted trash! Feels like we're currently doing beach cleaning duties! FUN!

It's been a couple months since I've been out with my nokta. Its been around 103-105 degrees here in western Colorado. No fun being out.

Hey! Do you have any video talking about the best settings for the Simplex in Dry Sand and on the other side for wet sand? Or could you please give me some tips like... wet sand 00.0 park mode half sens... tyvm👍

Dry sand, just use the preset mode. For salt water, you need to manually adjust the ground balance close to 0 until it runs as quiet as possible. There is not one setting because salt content varies from place to place so you should manually adjust ground balance when going to different salt water beaches.

A PI detector will be deeper and more stable in salt water. The drawback is you will hear everything. If you don't have a lot of trash where you hunt, a PI will be more productive.

I can’t go out without my floating screen. Always afraid of losing a second good target in the piling. I also have a nice marble collection because of the screen.

Mike made my own. I used 1 1/4 inch pvc to make the square, used plastic mesh they sell at Home Depot, and pool noddles wrapped around the pvc. Zip ties and that’s it. No metal so you can swing the coil over the floating screen to see if the target is inside. Use a lanyard and attach to it so it can float behind you.

Hello. Thank you for the great video. I noticed you are using gray ghost waterproof headphones. My question is are they compatible with both the minelab equinox and the simplex? I already own the same gray ghost headphones for the equinox and was wondering if they would work on the simplex also? Thanks!

The Gray Ghost Amphibian headphones are made for several different metal detectors. You have a set with the waterproof Equinox plug and the Amphibians made for Nokta have a different plug / wiring. Thanks for watching

Can I get an adapter to use my headphones on the Simplex or do I need to buy an entirely new set of headphones? Sorry to ask so many questions. If you don't know it's all good. Thanks

@@ericwall8871 no problem, I don't know of any adapters that go from the Equinox to Nokta.

One question are the headphones able to work underwater? Are they hard wired and included or are they an option as is the Bluetooth headphones. I know there is a hand vibration feature but in cold water where the hands may be numb I don't know how well that might work out???
@DetectorComparisons
@DetectorComparisons 2 жыл бұрын
The Gray Ghost amphibian headphones made for the simplex or waterproof. There is a waterproof connector, they are not hardwired to the machine.

I am getting a lot of chatter can barely use near sea water here in Florida, I don’t want to lower sensitivity. What am I doing wrong
@DetectorComparisons
@DetectorComparisons Жыл бұрын
There are two Beach modes, make sure you are in wet sand beach mode. If you're still getting chatter that has to do with different levels of salt water, more concentrated salt areas will be more conductive and require you to lower your sensitivity a little bit. Up here in the Northeast I haven't had that problem
@hertfordable
@hertfordable Жыл бұрын
@@DetectorComparisons I only see one Beach mode, unless I am missing something.
@DetectorComparisons
@DetectorComparisons Жыл бұрын
@@hertfordable in the beach mode there is a setting for wet sand or dry sand. If you have it on dry sand and try using it in the wet sand you will have a lot of interference. I know it's a little confusing but take a look at your manual to see how to put it into wet sand mode. On the left hand side of your screen you will see an MW indicating you are in multi-frequency wet sand mode. Good luck
