I enjoyed the talk on the benefits of cardio from a work capacity aspect rather than the typical weight loss. Improving performance like Mark said with more work done in less time being the desired outcome! Dope videos guys!

I would assume body builders do low intensity steady state cardio because it would inherently tap into the body's fat storage (keeping in the really aerobic and low lactic acid build up). HIIT is pushing up lactate process, would use up much more of the carb storage in the body - so it would overall lessen muscle fullness (as the carb storages are partially in the muscles). What do you think?

Making my accessories cardio, or doing some strongman (what I can manage at a regular gym) after squatting and deadlifting is the only way I can do it. Cardio sucks too much not to do it this way!

Well that treadmill makes life easier for some but it is not efficient cardio like you would get out of walking outside, using your own feet for force production instead of the motor of the treadmill

Yaah...its much much more important to have an efficient cardiovascular system, then being able to bench press 400#. The cardiac muscle...is the ONLY muscle that NEVER TAKES A BREAK in life beyond one second. Think about that....paradoxically, it likes to work hard...for aerobic efficiency,....cardiac output or Ejection Fraction increases...and then take a break when it can...without ever stopping totally. Cardiac muscle is very very God given and unique amoungst all the bodies musculature.

If that's cardio I must be running a friggin marathon equivalent twice a week. Try working on a heavy bag or shadow boxing for 30-45 minutes, 2 minute rounds, and doing mountain climbers/burpees for 30 seconds between rounds with a 30 second rest. That's cardio with some muscle conditioning thrown in.

Why not just use heavy compounds for your gym workout and anything that's lacking do feeder sets on them for your cardio (eg 100 - 200 rep bicep curls, hip flexors, calves, abs and traps) on the smaller muscles?
