Fabulous video as always man ! Ill add those books to my next years xmas reading list. Really loving your manga journey, and I hope you love Blue Flag, its such a cute queer story. Two I recommend are BL Metamorphosis (a wee old lady getting over her bereavement by finding BL manga and bonding with a shop assistant over it) and I Think Our Son Is Gay ( a mum trying to be supportive while letting her son come out in his own terms). Both are very much that kindness trope you mentioned at the end. Funnily enough sad things never really make me cry, but expressions of love or kindness really thaw my cold heart haha.

Did you ever read Skipping Christmas by John Grisham? It’s the book that Christmas with the Krank’s is based on. I’ve only read the inside sleeve, and it sounded pretty similar to the movie, or at least the major beats. It’s not terribly long, maybe next year you could do a “reading books based on my favorite Christmas films,” or something like that. Not sure how many book to movie Christmas films there really are.

My husband and I used to build a nest for my kitty Nibbler. We would prop up a blanket draped over the back of the couch with pillows to make a cave for him so he had a warm spot over night. You could try that out for your boys at night time so you don't have to worry as much.

My nieces and nephews are getting christmas books this year as their gift from my husband and I. Our oldest nieces is 10 so I spent the entire month of November reading (12) middle grade christmas novels so I could pick out ones I thought she would like. It was definitely a nice change of pace but after a full month of only MG, I was counting down the days until I could read adult novels again 😂

Don't open the One Piece cards until you catch up 😂 a good rule of thumb to gauge potential spoilers is release date. Since these were released in Dec 2022, all spoilers up to this point are fair game in the product, so you should probably catch up to the 2022 chapters at least before opening them

Trading card games are such an expensive hobby. But I understand how you couldn't resist. Maybe hold on to them until you've caught up to the story a bit more. You never know what or who they'll put in there. 😅 I 100% agree. Retail ruined the blissful Christmas vibe for me. Hi there, I've just been watching your brilliant contribution to a discussion about Northanger Abbey. There's so much to say about that book and I loved the things you brought to the discussion! There's really something I have to get off my chest about that book thati haven't heard other people talk about! I think that Sparknotes comment that was mentioned in the video is so far off the mark!!! There are two very clear reasons to me why Mrs Allen has no children. There is no way that she is jealous of Mrs Thorpe! Quite the reverse! I think it's no accident that she is childless - childfree!!! I think she is childfree very much by choice and by her actions. 1) she is fastidious about her hair and her clothes, and comments on them being disrupted or damaged by the actions of others.... These are, to me, very strong clues put there by Austen that the Allen's marriage is completely sexless. Can you *imagine* how Mrs Allen would react if Mr Allen tried to get anywhere *near* her??? How any form of close contact would freak her out, how she would be more concerned with him disarranging her nightclothes or her hair. She just wouldn't tolerate ANY physical contact that threatened that.... 2) given that the way she looks and her hair and clothing are so important to her, can you imagine her FOR ONE SECOND wanting to be pregnant or to give birth?? The physicality and disruption of that to her body, her home, her clothes.... Tbh I think she has OCD, as we would label it now. There is no way Mrs Allen would countenance being pregnant, let alone giving birth then dealing with noisy, disruptive children clinging to her, damaging or dirtying her clothes at all. It just wouldn't happen! Obviously Mr Allen would have wanted a physical relationship and to produce "an heir and a spare" but with Mrs Allen that was never going to happen!!

Just to let you know Gav I think the company you use for captions absolutely cannot understand geordie because there are so many mistakes in the captions today lol. They've written manga as 'panca' and 'mangoes' in the same sentence along with a lot of other errors. Is there a way to edit the captions once you receive the file? like if you did one pass of 'geordie edit' before things went live?
