I love this guy! He’s great with his presentation and I appreciate the way he communicates with his audience with respect. Yes, also he brings up options and benefits. He has such a low key charismatic personality you just crave the idea of wanting to work along side with him at work. I have so much respect for him. I’m jealous of his family and employees. Thank you for not being obnoxious. You are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing. 🙏

Great video. I went to Chinatown today to get a double bamboo steamer like the one he uses. Have been using a metal steamer. Really looking forward to the bamboo. Thanks.

Salmon has such nice red color. Think twice whether you want to add lemon acid to it as it bleeches the red color.

I wander how many of them I can actually stack ontop of each other before the steam starts to get too cold. I also heard that you should put fish at the top or the rest will taste like fish. No idea if that is trie though...

Do we have to soak the bamboo steamer before every use? Or just when we first buy it?
@patwarmack6783 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this video. I purchased a bamboo steamer for the first time a few days ago. It came without an instruction booklet so I have no idea how to clean it properly before using it for the first time and how to properly care for it thereafter. Do I use mineral oil on it from time to time as you would a wood cutting board? I am afraid of mold being a problem for lack of proper care so I literally have not touched it. Worst part is I want to make homemade Wonton soup and am dying to use my steamer 😥

I think is a recommendation. I have never seen a video that shows that you should soak them first but it makes perfect sense. You don't have to though.

Can a non-wok owner use these? I hear a few people say if it fits perfectly. I have a pretty standard set of N American sauce pans and skillets, would it fit on top?
@laurelsporter4 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you havev a pot that fits the inner bottom diameter, you're set. Or, you can get adapter rings. Or, you can fit them in a wide enough pot with a 1.5-2.5" tall trivet. I use a trivet, and stuff the whole stack inside my pressure cooker (unsealed).

Looks like a tasty dish, and steaming is often a good way to cook things, thanks for showing these steamers. However, sometimes I wish you would be a little more careful with your culinary science. Salt can indeed increase the boiling point of water, but for it to actually do so in this case would take a _lot_ more salt than that. Even if you were to use sea water, the boiling point would only go up by one degree or so over that of fresh water. (Depending on how salty your sea water is.) Really, putting a pinch of salt in your steaming water only wastes salt. The salt stays behind when the water evaporates, so it won't even help to season your food.
