There should be enough water so that it touches the bottom of the steamer, if not the bamboo can burn against the pan

So that's why her wok is black as tar.
@chumbenmurry96815 жыл бұрын
Instead of using the wok to steam the veggies Try using a circular bowel, which should be almost the same diameter as the bamboo steamer, to get a better result.

Okay, is the cabbage traditionally eaten with the meal? Can I eat the cabbage, or do most people discard it after steaming?

It’s still considered food ! So you can eat it if you want!

Do you normally put both layers of the bamboo basket in there even if you are only using one layer?

Does the bamboo ever get burnt from being directly on the pan?
@cgparas13 жыл бұрын
You can purchase the stainless rings so that you can place the steamer over any cook pot. Better idea.

Do you need to top up the water at all and do you think i could use a pan as i dont have a wok? 😊
@forlandm5 жыл бұрын
Sure, you can use a pan as well. If you're steaming for more than a few minutes, it might be necessary to check the water level from time to time and top it up if necessary.

Do you think that if I put 4 layers of bamboo steamer at the time the food will cook evenly?
@mentaritravel10043 жыл бұрын
no, that's why in restaurants they rotate them

Do the different levels cook at different times, ie if i have veggies top and bottom which is very likely.

The bottom cooks faster than the top, so rotate them halfway

Did you ever find the reusable liners? If so where?
@forlandm5 жыл бұрын
You can search for 'Cotton Reusable Liners for Bamboo Steamers' on Amazon, for example. It's also possible to just use roughly cut pieces of muslin, linen, etc. to put in your steamer - they don't need to be round and fit perfectly; just let the excess part hang over the rim of the container.
@PiccoloMichelaChannel5 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t everything tastes like cabbage when you use cabbage liner? Just a question

For the love of god season your steamer. Just brush boiling water over all of it, and then once dried brush on oil while it’s still warm all over. Store over night in a cold dark place. Will get all chemicals out of the wood and also make your steamer last way longer.

@@Nyle95 I don't think it's a time thing; It's more of a use thing. Check this video out. Most people don't do this to their woks before using them, and they really should. It's the proper way. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn_LpXybiL56hMU

This bamboo basket will release more chemicals into your food in one cooking than the metal one in a life time. Is all int he way they are made an treated in manufacturing.
