Yes; the original was by the Stylistics....also can be found on KZbin......but the original 2-part leads were sung by 2 singers....the falsetto by Russell Thompkins......but this version was amazing because he sang BOTH parts......and did an excellent job....

Yes this was a cover, originally done by the Stylistics, but they are just about identical. Its just an amazing song one my wife and I heard every week at night we would have the radio on soft rock station to fall asleep to. And if you're still upset with your pops, I'll go fishing with him , before I got sick I won 4 out of 6 fishing tournaments I qualified for and won big fish on 2 of those as well. MUSIC, MOTORCYCLES, AND FISHING, and outdoor Barbecues, my favorite things. Simply Red is the name of the entire band, the front man is Mick Hucknall. It’s just like Sade, that is actually the band’s name (Sade is the lead singer’s nickname.). This song is originally by the Stylistics and they sang it in falsetto, that’s probably who your dad is listening to .

His best-known singles include "I Just Want To Stop" and "Living Inside Myself". The live versions are just as good as the recorded so either are great.

Suggestion: Mick Hucknall, aka Simply Red, does "Sunrise" which is done to the music of Hall and Oates "I Can't Go For That" that is worth a listen. The Live at Roma 2015 version is awesome or there is also one from this same concert.
