Now you see why we fell in love with Sydnie. With these shows auditions are tapped months earlier (this year they were done in January). The semis & finals are live. For the auditions a performer is on their own, sink or swim on preparation, choice and whether you can deliver (she was so nervous she didn’t let her nanas here the song until the audition so it was new to them). She was pure magic, the meeting of training & a level talent and emotional connection that’s a gift that can’t be taught. Her personality and ability to use her voice in unique ways and to connect so emotionally with an audience made me think of a long ago day when a young unknown had her first opening night on Broadway and was so undeniably a miracle a star was born - Barbara Streisand in Funny Girl = perfect part meets generational talent. After they get by the auditions acts have about three months to figure out how to up the level in the semis. At this point the show offers help with whatever the type of act needs - costumes, staging, props, vocal coach, etc. You are still responsible for picking your performance but they will help with tools for success. Smart acts say yes as they hire the best. Sydnie was thrilled to work with a famous vocal count she could never have afforded and also smart enough to know minimal staging was necessary. Her gift requires only her presence and the song she chose to give her another preparation meets opportunity moment. After she won the semis she had only three days until the finals and she spent three months on My Way. The coach suggested the Loren Allred version of Over the Rainbow and she didn’t want to do it as she’s a big fan of Loren’s. They had to get Loren to video call and convince her. I’ve felt really bad for Loren on both BGT & AGT. She has the voice and recordings sound great. Initially using her Greatest Showman song she gets through and you hope but unfortunately Loren with all her vocal talent wasn’t gifted with the It Factor, that emotional connection to an audience, that star quality you can’t learn or fake and it always fell apart in the semis. Loren is a class act and recognized Sydnie had “It” and didn’t hesitate to encourage her success. Sydnie has been working at her dream since she was young. She has a degree in musical theatre and she has the magic, what she hasn’t had is that opportunity where someone sees what you have inside and gives you the break that matters. She’s worked on cruise ships, in regional theatre, small shows and has put her earnings back into recording a few songs but without connections or a lucky break you don’t get the dream. She was rejected or told no so many times she was beaten down and doubting her talent. She had to work at a gym trying for the West End one last time because although she’s worked it’s never been enough to support herself. Friends suggested she submit an audition and she decided it would be her last swing. If she didn’t make it through the audition she’d give up and finally all that prep met opportunity and she got that Tomorrow. I can’t wait to buy her music, see her shows and be so glad this time someone who deserved it got her shot.

Sydnie gives this song its new heart & soul! She has adapted the tune from the cover by Marisha Wallace, in London, from during the pandemic lockdown: Marisha is now a fan of Sydnie, as is Loren, as well. Accidentally, when you skipped ahead through all the applause: you missed Simon JOINING the standing ovation, too. It wasn't just his words of amazement, in the end. Maybe you've glimpsed it by now, but there you go: Simon absolutely loves this song, now! You will be swept away by Sydnie performing "Over the Rainbow" in the actual finale of BGT, which happened ten days ago now, 3 days after she did "My Way". Loren Allred 'coaxed' Sydnie into doing it, as Sydnie at first declined to sing her favourite singer's song, when BGT offered it to her: also, it was Loren's recording of the song in Sydnie's celebration moment, here. After Sydnie won the final, Loren headlined the video on Sydnie's Facebook posting, saying it was now "our" song, as she was so excited watching Sydnie sing it & win BGT with it. Sydnie is said by other music teacher reactors, in England, to raise her tone till goosebumps are pronounced, and then she lowers the volume, making it very personal: "a masterful art". And, what I would suggest, with its gentle up and down shape of tune & tone, is that Sydnie has performed a truly "English art" of music, with this and all her songs here. As she says even also of herself: LET'S AV IT!

Hey Britt. A new subscriber to your channel from the UK here. I watched your reaction to Sidnie Christmas's version of My Way and you share the exact same view on her talent as I do and the passion about her. She is my new fav singer/artist! All 3 of her performances are equally as special. Hurry up and do the Final reaction on somewhere over the rainbow...F.Y.I the 'West End' is London's equivalent of Broadway! - it's what she dreams of doing! I found her Instagram over the weekend and followed her. Some of the tabloids/trolls gave her a hard time over her win as she has been on stage in a show in Germany before and she was last to perform on the final (This was criticised by tabloids and trolls saying the producers did this on purpose to make her win) So I dropped her a message congratulating her on her win and I gave her some amazing comments and I advised her to ignore the trolls who said she didn't deserve to win/it was a fix as she had done stage work before. In my message I said to watch your reaction on her performances also and gave your KZbin name to show how much her fans adore her!!... At the time I had drunk a bottle of wine and when I sent the message I never thought I would get a reply (especially after her just winning £250'000 and everyone wanting a piece of her) But you should have seen my reaction when I woke up and my phone showed I had 3 messages from Sydnie Christmas - this made me love her even more to take her time to reply to me at a time which I am sure she is crazy busy... She is so humble in her reply. She started off with Hi Scott (She even used my name and not just rushing through her replies to fans sending generic sh*t. She thanked me for the message and said she really needed that today! I have never sent a celebrity a message before or even write many KZbin comments but she deserves the praise! She may have an one of your viewers!!

The commentator misunderstood the implication of Sidnie’s “always a day away” lyric change. The commentator thought that was an expression of eternal optimism. No. By saying that it’s always a day away, she’s saying that that blue sky day always recedes into a non-existent future. It never actually arrives. It’s a wistful recognition that that idealized day of perfect joy is a fantasy. THAT’S what makes her interpretation so painfully beautiful

She 'is' well seasoned with 3 years of post secondary studies in voice and theatre, followed by musical theatre gigs on cruise ships and other shows. This is her last gasp at making it. If it doesn't happen, she is already enrolled in another program. The conversation you are watching is an edit of something that ran 7 minutes. The producers took the best bits and re-told her story to make her even more sympathetic. All that being said, she is the real deal and a fabulous human being.

Sydnie gives the song real meaning, where before it was just sung nicely by a young girl, but without the truth Sydnie brings

I watched quite a lot of your reactions and your insight is spot on. After you said that she reminded you some of Yolanda Adams I could hear it also. I've watched this video quite a lot, but for some reason it really hit me this time and I couldn't help but cry. She is absolutely incredible and deserves every accolades she receives.

Simon did finally stand. The version you hear as the backdrop to her celebration of the song was sung by Loren Allred.

I love your personality much as Sidney's. Your vibrant, beautiful, intelligent, articulate, and professional reactions, 2 now that i have watched are genuine and positive to hear as well. Do you have a musical background as well.? I want to listen to you again respond so much that im going to subscribe. Bless you young lady.

You are the first, other than me that notice the Over The Rainbow, Sidney version playing over her audition at the end. Maybe someone else is singing it, but they could have recorded this before posting the audition video. They could have already had her final recorded for this. But maybe not. But it is the version she sang. I hear gospel roots in her on My Way. She sounds like one of the women you would hear on the Gaithers shows.

That's not her singing Over the Rainbow, it's Lauren Allred, who created that version, and which BGT uses quite often in these circumstances. When it was suggested for Sydnie to sing in the final she was at first reluctant because she said Lauren Aldred is one of her heroes, but Lauren sent her a video encouraging her. And it worked out well!

As @callandick stated, what was played was Loren Allred’s version when she sang it in February on AGT Fantasy League semifinals.

I believe that was Lauren Allred singing Over the Rainbow. But Sydney does the same version, but better !!!

That Somewhere Over The Rainbow is NOT her singing...that is Loren Allred's version. So it became coincidentally that she sang in the final (but she did not want to) till Loren video messaged her to go do it.

The version of 'Over the rainbow' was sung by Eva Cassidy an American singer that found fame in the UK after her untimely death when a radio DJ heard her and played her music relaunching her and giving her album chart success and even a number one single...and she never got to enjoy her fame. You should check her out she was phenomenal.

I love Yolands Adams! Sydnie is so special. She sings from the heart. The end song is sung by Loren Alred but that is the version she sings for her last performance.
@taylor261015 ай бұрын
First this was not her arrangement of tomorrow but was previously used, The song in the end over the rainbow is being sung by Loren Alfred. Sydnie version is different m Sydnie wanted to make sure hers would be different. In fact Loren called her and congratulated her. There would be no way they could use her song of Over the rainbow, she has not sung it yet!

The man and woman in the audience who were talking near the end of the video may be Sydnie's parents. The focus on certain individuals in the audience are family members.

The most stunning voice I have ever heard and what a personality to match. She will be on Broadway rather than the West End theatres. love to Sydnie and wish you all the success for the future. You Americans will be be blessed by her presence and not us in the UK.
