A million other people see a loving family that is committed to providing excellent care for their aging parent who has dementia. You may see five minutes of video here and there but that doesn't show the reality of providing care full time. I have no doubt that there are many more moments that Dan decides to keep private than he shares. He is doing a world of good by educating people on the subject. You think placing him in an unfamiliar mediocre facility with a bunch of strangers would be more beneficial for him? He would go down hill in a few months from the stress of being away from his family.

I worked with a lady with dementia. She asked "what" a lot ....because they don't understand the words not that they can't hear the words. Or that's what I experienced as her illness got worse and they said her ears were fine. Her brain wasn't processing what we said at the speed we were speaking...by the 2nd or 3rd time we said the same thing her brain was making sense of it. I don't know how common that is but it makes sense.

What a wise man. He raised his children right. He knows he is with family.I had my dad 3 yrs no help from my many siblings. When my siblings felt our dad needed nursing home care I would visit 3 times a week, dad lit up like a child on Christmas day every time I walked in. Due to the drugs he was put on due to being combative he died with in 12 weeks!
