About 6 months ago I said to myself, "I want to live in reality". Man! I had no idea what I was wishing for! Amazing. Thank you Angelo, and I'm delighted to discover Erik.

To the writer: Love both Eric’s and Angelo’s answers to really look into what’s there. After seeing myself as a writer for much of my life, that impulse and that identity is simply gone, at least for now. For me, writing was a way I was trying to achieve, justify my existence, be seen, heard, loved, important, etc. With the gradual realization of those motives, the need and desire to write has almost completely disappeared. This may not be true for you at all. Your motivation may be a true expression. For me, even though I was a good and modestly successful writer, the motivations were largely revealed to be empty. And realizing this has made the ways I express more immediate, direct, personal, and satisfying. Best wishes in your own discovery process, whatever turns out to be true for you. I am not suggesting that my experience will be true for you or for anyone else. I just wanted to share it in case it has any value or resonance.

@@macparker3549 🤣 Likewise, Mac! Yeah, I’m still lurking around these parts. My life is a sort of functional shitshow, anyway, so total annihilation of the main protagonist doesn’t seem too bad a prospect. That said, there has been quite a lot of fear, on and off, which caused me to back off for a while. I’m (or something is) leaning towards attending the retreat in July (European chapter). Currently trying to organise a quite location for same.

Philip, a “functional shit show!” I love it. Better than a dysfunctional shit show? 🤨😁 I’ve been there! I seem to be in a quieter part of the current right now. A deepening calmness, albeit perhaps before the storm? Who knows? I enjoy our comment kinship. Happy you are going to experience a retreat. Very glad you exist… 🙏💜🔥🫥⭕️🌻

Great video, found a new sense of compassion and a lack of judging which was refreshing! I've been reading Iain McGilchrist's the master and his emissary in which he characterizes the two hemispheres and their dynamic co-existing with each other. I find his characterization very compelling as it illuminates human dichotomies really neatly. In the book he talks about how the left hemisphere can perceive the right as a presence watching it or something being outside of itself, "Other". This trait or inclination of the left hemisphere to feel observed seems to resonate with a lot of peoples experience when going through the awakening process as introspection or, as it were, observing yourself and your internal states might trigger the left hemisphere to feel this presence more clearly as you become more conscious. These direct pointers to non-duality felt so distant a few months ago but now it seems like everything is coming together and making sense in a deep way that feels so natural and I want to extend my gratefulness to everyone, especially you Mr. Awake.

This is very interesting. I was diagnosed ADHD (I took myself to the dr after reading Gabor Mattes book scattered and was diagnosed age 55years). The second questioner interaction was interesting to me. I have a lot of anxiety about getting stuff done. This was helpful to hear. I too get a bit obsessed about knowing about the original trauma and knowing how to navigate the impacted resistance.

Curious Angelo or Eric, I like the idea of self-compassion, but isn't that more thoughts to support and accept the separate self? I am definitely not trolling here, but this AM when I sat on the edge of the bed and felt into the morning pain/frustration/despair, "I" met those thoughts with, "its okay to feel like this, we'll get through this together..." it dawned on me that was just more thought. I'm just in a really rough spot, but is really comforting thoughts with more thoughts, counter-productive? Bonus question - can this awakening process manifest otherwise legit physiological concerns like heart palpitations. After my AM of self-compassion I had a wicked / LEGIT short episode of heart palpitations, and after a trip to urgent care I get, "You look and sound great...." ....WTF.
@ListenToSleep Жыл бұрын
Hi Rob. Self-compassion is a practice along the lines of metta (loving kindness). My experience of it is that it's more about intention than thought and the quality of the practice isn't thought-based, but more sensation-based. There's a quality to love and compassion that is prior to thought and setting intention there is what's worked best for me. Rather than being about accepting the separate self, it's about deeply accepting our human-ness and all that comes with it. I hope that helps.
@AbscentOrange Жыл бұрын
@@ListenToSleep Thanks Eric! Yes, definitely helps. Life is hard right now, and I can see the flow of emotions, then the thoughts that follow. Pain, to tears, to the thoughts of what should be different or better. What I am dealing with has no predictability, and it is crushing me right now.

The language, words and terminology that people use are inscrutable at times ... individuals use words that they heard or learned from a book, teaching, or "teachers" use and but it can be very confusing because these terms could mean SO much to different people. It's very individual ...

When I keep hearing the word resistance I’m not exactly sure what that word means. Does it mean being defensive?
@dylanevartt3219 Жыл бұрын
With "negative" emotions like fear, anger, ect. the sensations aren't a problem, the problem is the thoughts that say "I can't bare this any longer", "I'm worthless", and so on. That's often where the resistance is. But it isn't always overt thoughts, often just a feeling of pushing against sensations that we think should be other than they are
@josephschulz5256 Жыл бұрын
Very well said. Thanks!
@macparker3549 Жыл бұрын
For me, I feel it in the body. Any edge or defiance that is against whatever is happening in any moment. Can be very obvious and very subtle. Oddly, in the process of looking into this, one of the first things that seems to happen is to “resist the resistance.” We can confuse ourselves into thinking that non-resistance means to “stop resisting.” Which, of course, turns out to be…resistance! 🤨🤬😁😂 In “my” process, it has been key to notice that acceptance accepts EVERYTHING, including resistance… 💜🔥🫥⭕️🌻
