This once a week touch on several "extra" subjects has worked fantastic for our large family of 12. It helps me feel better as a mom, knowing that I am providing a well rounded education, but not overwhelmed. The children love it because its more then the 3R's that they can look forward to each day. Its easy to incluce all the children, even the littles, which helps promote family unity. I love that Soyna taught me how to do this years ago, its helped me ward off burn-out.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. So glad to hear that this method has worked well for your large family! It is so wonderful to hear that these strategies helped to equip you and simplify things so that you felt that you could do it!

@SimplyCharlotteMason Oh yes, Soyna is amazing at inspiring me to be able to do things. Without her voice in my head telling me "it's possible" I wouldn't be able to do nearly as much.

Any advice on how to use this curriculum in a state with strict homeschooling laws?
@SimplyCharlotteMason29 күн бұрын
Great question, you will see a link at this page on planning your own homeschool to the HSLDA which is a great free resource for understanding your state's specific laws. We always recommend that families check those laws first to see what their requirements are. We have families from many different states use this curriculum. A great place to get advice from other families who may have experience using SCM's curriculum in your state is our facebook group. Here is a link if you are interested in joining that group. facebook.com/share/g/15Xoye8gfa/

Thank you for reaching out with your questions! Charlotte Mason recommended formal lessons begin once a child is six years old. You can use the strategies outlined in this article with any student who is switching to using a Charlotte Mason approach. This post is part of a series on switching to using Charlotte Mason's methods in your homeschool, here is a link to the rest of that series. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/transition-to-cm-basics/ If you are looking for more information on how to implement Charlotte Mason's methods with younger children, here is a helpful link: simplycharlottemason.com/planning/preschool-guide/ If you have a young student just starting first grade, here is a helpful post on easing into the transition to requiring formal lessons. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/how-to-ease-into-formal-lessons-in-first-grade/

Are there any plans for SCM to include more diversity in their resources? This is truly the only reason I don’t use SCM curriculum.
@PMC8892 ай бұрын
You can always incorporate the "diversity" of your choice on your own, but it sounds like you'd rather criticize than make improvements.

Thank you for joining us and for reaching out with your question! Yes, the curriculum/content team is working hard on this across SCM's resources. We are continually looking at adding diversity to our enrichments, literature, and history selections to broaden the feast even more for our students, and offer more opportunities for both "mirrors" and "windows." Here are two blogposts with Amber O'Neal Johnston on this approach that we have been using to help guide us in the process of adding more diverse selections to SCM's curriculum.
