He was a staple in family entertainment when I was growing up. His songs have topped charts in multiple decades & he is still singing and making albums now. Some of my favorite more recent ones "Taylor Swift is Stalking Me" & "Quaratine Song."

So what a lot of people don’t know about this song is that it’s based on a true story from the first Baptist church in Pascagoula in 1981 I think it might’ve been 79. Either way the church caught on fire because of a squirrel running up the building and catching a hold of the electrical wires causing an arc to catch the church on fire. How do I know this because my parents were married in that church, and my grandpa had the cut out from the newspaper when it happened. And he would show me that newspaper cut out and play me the song

I’m familiar with Ray Stevens’ work, but this clip got past my radar. It’s hilarious!! It had me in tears!! Another classic comedy clip of Ray’s is “The Streak.” Highly recommend reacting to that one.
