Ranch style beans all the way!! Pickled jalapeño juice works great too for that hit of vinegar. Anytime I need to check a recipe I search either Rachael or Angelina. You two never fail! Side story: When my son was in the Army serving in Iraq, he would get to call home sometimes and he always asked me to send him cans of Ranch style beans. LOL....A Texas boy can only go so long without them!

I make a very similar cornbread topped chili. I DO add diced onions and jalapenos, as well as half a cup of frozen corn to the cornbread batter before baking. That being said, I bet I'd love your version too

OMG. And I thought I had it down! This looks much easier than mine. For me, I add some frozen sweet corn and some fresh jalapenos to the chili. And add fresh jalapenos to the cornbread batter.

I tried my version, its one on bottom and one on top*Jiffy mix box....The bottom was mixed with Pico de gaio, and the top with jalapenos, and a layer of cheese between level chili and cornbread mix*could try riccota chesse too instead of the Velvetta cheese....it last for about 4 days too.....Hearty

Listen folks that Chili's in adobo is the bomb in the secret ingredient in a whole lotta Tex-Mex/real Mex dishes... Not super cheap but it is super special anvil crank up your street taco or burrito game!!!!!

Maybe in the future, you could do the thin layer for the chili when you bake it and make an additional pan of cornbread that is thicker for the rest of your family, that way everyone kind of gets what they want.
