Based off of watching dozens of hours of top level 120 star runners it seems that 3 of the most difficult stars (not including SSL reds) are DDD100, HMC100 and Vanish Cap. In the case of Vanish Cap, it is not so much a run killer (however it can sometimes result in death), but it is often a place for serious time loss. I am intrigued by this star myself; especially because of the unique design of the course.

You introduced the top-down map diagram as a really nice way to contextualize the route in one image, and then only used it to explain the very first route. I had hoped you would bring that same diagram up again for the later major route revisions. That being said, the video was still excellent and very easy to follow.
@SimplyN645 жыл бұрын
I was thinking I was going to do that as well and that was the plan going in, however, I realized it would end up taking more time to explain it as after the first iteration I basically show the rest of the routes in video form.

Started playing in 2004, too. My older sister's file was left at 63 stars, leading me to temporarily believe she was one star away from finishing the game and that star was probably located in... Dark World Bowser... and that in typical RPG fashion that I saw her play I also believed that final star was probably part of the final battle and thus never saved into the memory. ( I actually guessed SM64 was a soft-reset ending game before getting there years later! ) My own 120 took about 2 years.

Hm... 20 minutes per star, 120 stars... that's 40 hours of documentary if you're up to it, I'd be down to watching that! The format is great, didn't notice any loss from the scripted ones; keep a topic cheat sheet and you'll do fine. Another interesting feature to talk about would be "which star to combine with other events", such as 100 coins, killing stage bosses, blasting the top of the pyramid, opening canons, etc. Even switching stages sometimes instead of completing a single one. Those can change drastically when new strategies are discovered for a given star.

This is extremely well done. It feels like you are just talking to your friends about a tough star that has some interesting history. The neat thing about its evolution is that flying has pretty nice advantages over running and being able to get to the wing cap earlier and collect more stars while flying is much faster. I'm blanking on it, but are there any other stars that require mixing flying and running in a similar way?
