About the historical documents: a lot of the times museums "sell" their pieces to people as a way of funding. Usually then in the contract it would say that it now belongs to so-and-so, but it would stay displayed in said museum. So they get funding, rich people get tax write-offs, everybody wins 🤔

@@recoil53 not quite. It guaranteed the rights of “all free men”. So while that didn’t include enslaved people and women, it did include poor men. It definitely didn’t establish anything close to what we consider egalitarianism today, but many scholars consider it to be foundational to modern democracy.

there are a few separate camps when it comes to the adobe subscription model: those who love it (I think these people exist?), those who hate it, and those who have to deal with it their apps are typically considered the industry standard, so it's hard to get away from--especially since your apps only stay up to date with the subscription. but there are people who have compiled lists on free or one cost options for people who want to get away from them. the quote I see often is, ' it's always morally right to pirate adobe ' , which says a lot about how people feel

About how museums make money (I mainly speak for the western world or more specifically, Sweden): it depends a little bit on the country, but many countries museums are financed by the government since it is important to educate the population and let them take part of their cultural heritage. If you go to Berlin you will find that museums concerning the holocaust will be free because it is so important that people understand what happen and why. In Sweden, not every museum is free, but many are or are quite cheap and are still at least partially financed by governmental funds. I wouldn't be suprised if museums in countries with more unstable governments or a different philosophy for government would earn much money back through ticket sales etc, but I can't speak of that with certainty.
@olivialarsson8660
@olivialarsson8660 2 жыл бұрын
@@kitcolorshow3583 i could see that, since the US, at least seems so me, do not want a lot of governmental interference! I don't think I have seen any museum here in Sweden for more than around 10$. But there was an initiative a couple of years ago that the museums owned by the state should be free since it is an important part of the citizen's democratic rights to have access to Sweden's culture.
@michelericca6728
@michelericca6728 2 жыл бұрын
In the USA, most Museums charge, but most local public libraries have passes for either free or discounted admission. A lot of museums do get government funding (either local or state) and loan items to each other for free. Boston's Museum of Fine Arts does not receive government funding, so to earn money they do charge to loan items to other Museums.

Quick fun facts about the magna carta because im a history nerd: -it was nicknamed the great charter -it was basically created by the barons so the king’s couldn’t just do whatever the fuck they wanted -as well as the king isn’t above the law it also stated that the king couldn’t tax without reason which was a huge thing for the peasants as before that the king would tax whatever he wanted without reason. -although it did make the king accountable to the law it didn’t create much of an improvement for the lives of the ‘serfs’ who were at the bottom of the social hierarchy - it was created in england in 1215 mainly bcs King John was a massive dick to everyone - i have no idea where the actual document is now but I do know that part of it is at parliament house in Australia uh yeah

I work at a place that sells consoles, and a big chunk of my job is explaining console models to people. Even though Playstation is easier with PS, PS2, PS3 (Slim), PS4 (Slim, Pro), PS5 (Digital, Disc) - people will still get it mixed up constantly. This is especially common with the storage size (eg. PS4 and PS4 Slim come with 500gb and 1tb options, while PS4 Pro is only 1tb), since people aren't sure what they want/have or how it makes a difference until it becomes an issue down the line. I once had someone come in asking for the PS7, and it wasn't just a joke because they were an absolutely clueless parent. The Xbox takes more effort because it goes; Xbox, Xbox 360 (Slim), Xbox One (S/X), Xbox Series S/X. I have to send so many parents away to get more info from their kid because they're not sure if they want an Xbox One X or an Xbox Series X. Talking about and buying consoles for newbies or parents is not at all beginner friendly, so if you're not already a gamer who buys that console series, you aren't expected to know or keep up with it.

I listen on KZbin instead of watching and what I usually do I clean. Like this is the one time a week that motivates me to just do something I need to do and if I got more stuff I need to do and need motivation I will put on old podcasts!

(Mostly) Podcast LISTENER (not watcher) here: I usually listen your podcast when commuting. This includes walking, taking a crowded bus or subway… generally when I feel uncomfortable holding up my phone, want to take a break from watching the screen or I feel it’s unsafe to watch my screen while walking! :)) I am an international student living off campus, and during Covid I do not have the opportunity to hang out with my friends easily, so I truly enjoy listening to your podcast when I am on the go because it almost makes me feel like I am having an conversation a friend! ☺️☺️

Came here from Spotify!!! I like listening to the two of you chat while I do my weekly chores (meal prep, laundry, cleaning) or on my commute. The podcasts are a great way to listen to something fun and semi-engaging (like the games you play and stories you tell) without having to devote time to watching a video at the same time :)

Speaking of new technologies developing, what ever happened to the little jawbone Bluetooth earpieces? I know they still exist but so many people used to walk around with them in their ears at all times. They were super popular. And then they sort of disappeared!

I only listen! I started by watching but quickly realized I liked listening to you guys when I’m getting ready or doing something. I found the podcast on Spotify and haven’t come back to KZbin until you asked this. I do like watching the highlights on some older pods or episodes I missed. I’m impressed how well it works audio only when y’all plan for videos. I hardly feel like I’m missing anything.

I work at a coin and jewelry shop so I am fairly knowledgeable about some of the objects that you guys were guessing about. That gold buffalo coin was a trick question because while it said it was an American coin the truth of the matter is that it has a picture of an American coin (The Buffalo nickel) and is the equivalent of a generic ounce of gold.

it's me! I'm one of those people who listens to Spotify only cause I like listening to podcasts while doing mundane work. I like how you guys make sure to describe the visual stuff (if there is any), so it feels like I'm a part of an actual conversation. I also very rarely give my whole attention to a video or audio I'm listening/ watching because I need to be doing something else by the side. Also, this podcast helped me reduce my screen time tremendously, so thank you for that! Also, greetings to zyler and menchie :D (Just opened youtube to comment this lol)

LISTENER ONLY. I sought this out after listening to the podcast on spotify so I could comment. I'm a recruiter for a manufacturing company, and I listen to podcasts when I have more mindless tasks. I support several HR managers throughout the US, so a nice chunk of my day is typing people's information into many, many Google Sheets. I work from home, so only my two kitties hear what I'm listening to. Thanks for keeping me sane during a crazy systems transition period at my work! :)

I tune in via Apple Podcasts rather than watching because I usually listen while I'm exercising. I have a 25-30 minute cycle each way to the swimming pool, so this is a perfect soundtrack. You asked a bit about the listeners... I'm an academic psychologist (and a 34-year-old-lay-dee!) from London. I love your perspectives on working life, social science, and oats. Don't wear nail varnish at all but I have enjoyed watching and listening to you both for years. Feels like eavesdropping on a conversation with friend while I cycle. Thanks for the enjoyment!
