Ha. Sad story. I always gave my mom pedicures and obvs used Holo Taco. The last pedicure I gave her we used Matcha Maker and she loved it. I loved how much she loved it and how it looked so I painted my toes the same color. Anyway, she passed away a little more than a week ago, very suddenly and that was her last color. I know she was happy to have still looked her best even at her death. So honestly, matcha maker will always have such a sweet spot in my life. ❤️

I work at a grocery store and the reason why we put out Halloween candy so early (like in August) is because the stockroom was getting so hot, that all the candy we received to put out for Halloween was actually melting! They didn’t want to put it out so early, but didn’t really have a choice or they would lose the product. Maybe something similar was happening in Ottawa!

It's absolutely true, the phenomenon is seen specially when it comes to child behavior, many times seen as problematic tendencies or going at a slower pace than the rest is seen as a pathological problem (which has to be evaluated case to case), and also "social media therapists" (tiktok, ig) have a thing for making regular behaviors o feelings into a pathological matter

The tea creme "leak" is kinda hilarious to me because I also do cosmetic mockups like this. Usually I create them for makeup brands tho', but I did a April Fool's edit for Holo Taco (Menchie Hair Polish). It's eerily similar but the person who edited it obviously knows Cristine's color preferences and possible has studied the Holo Taco color catalogue to determine the holes in color selection.

I appreciate that you post about your charity work. First of all, you are not doing it in a self-aggrandizing way. The meal tab makes sense because people need to KNOW they exist. For the Mechie Gang donations, we WANT to know where our membership funds are going. For me personally, I often get a lot of compassion fatigue with all the awful things going on in the world, but I also can't donate to every single cause or I wouldn't be able to sustain my own life. Having a place to donate $5 a month and see it go to a good cause each month gives me a sense of making a difference, even though it's not a ton, because I can see the ripple effect of everyone else's donations as well. I think your intentions are always good and that's what really counts with this.

I buy candy now because once you start getting closer to Halloween my local grocery stores actually start jacking up the prices. I pay full price for a bag or two of favorites plus one nut free bowl and stash them away from my family with a decoy bag. At 26 years old, just before the beginning of the pandemic I had started a new job, a temporary job. I fell in love with this temporary job. When the pandemic hit and the impending lockdown loomed over us I looked to your videos for comfort & distraction. In defense of buying Halloween candy early, the Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins have a better peanut butter/chocolate ratio than the regular cups do, and as others have mentioned there are lots of season-specific candies that you can only get at certain times of year. The different sizes can also taste different (Mini bags of Swedish Fish are definitely different than the regular bags for example), so my guess would be it's people buying to eat it now rather than to prepare for October lol.

it’s so funny ben said matcha maker at 27:30 sage green has been one of THE most trendy colours from the past year. everyone i know has been obsessed with it since 2021 😭 while seafoam home gives me more 2013-15 pinterest mint green and coral chevron vibes (if you know you know) EDIT: side note i think you very much underestimate the amount of us who do want to hear you talk about sociology!!! What a good podcast episode. I really loved the talk about being an inspiration for students. I wonder if Ben And Cris ever think about how they are now working primarily in jobs that have nothing to do with their degrees. It's weird right? But they certainly don't regret going to college, or working 9-5 jobs for the government for so many years. I work in a job that has nothing to do with my Bachelor's degree - but I don't regret that time and money I spent on going to University at all - and I would go back to school in a heartbeat to learn more if I could afford to do that and keep my current lifestyle (things having a house/car/money for bills but no roommates). Also off topic I happen to be wearing only Scattered Halo Taco right now - like just that and a clear base and top coat. It gives a lovely effect and is a great product and think it is really funny that it is Cris's least favorite. You two are the best. Keep giving to those health care workers; they deserve it and keep being aweseom!!

I was never a fan of scattered holo taco, I picked it up on a whim to get free shipping to Canada with one of the recent launches as it was one of the only polishes I didn't own aside from the glitter polishes that I can't stand. And honestly, it surprised me how much I loved it. Flakie is still my favourite, but I love adding the subtle holo sparkle to polishes with other finishes like shimmers or multichrome for slight extra effect, and its perfect over/under nail art!
