@@letsmakchaos That happens a lot with my Sims, too. The only way I found to solve this is to give them the neat trait, which makes them more likely to wash their own dirt (and sometimes other's). Parties are a mess of plates left all around.

My 'trick' to solve the simulation lag is: I save the game and comeback to live mode, sims will resume what they are doing after that. For some reason this works for me. Hope works for more people.

It's probably too hard to fix without expending a lot of resources. The major focus for EA seems to be on developing and adding - increasing the number of things to buy. Any bugs that might take people off developing new product aren't likely to be looked at any time soon.

Well... sadly it isn't true. You could buy a disk and play the game for 10 hours only to realize that the level you're stuck on is broken. Then you buy another copy of a game hoping it doesn't have an issue or wait for years till some kind soul makes a fix or developers release a patch... Then your computer is too good to run the game. Sims 4 is still awful in this regard though. I doubt even EA could afford professional beta testing on every pc in existence, but they have millions of free beta-testers who play the game and they ignore their reports. Shoosh.

The simulation lag is awful, however there are too many to choose from. The team has done COUNTLESS things to try to "increase community engagement". It's like they have a repeating cycle of saying they're going to give us periodic updates and insight into the development and the future, do it for two months, and then stop. They are ALWAYS saying things like "We want to be more transparent" and yet they don't...? It's obnoxious. I guarantee you can find at least one or two statements from the team each year since the game came out about them saying they want to be more transparent and engaging with the community and yet they don't, and THEN they get mad at people for wanting more transparency even though they introduced the ideas.... Not only is the game completely broken and a joke, but the management and the entire team is as well. Well done, EAxis, you've destroyed The Sims' reputation.

As someone who was, at first, planning on skipping the Sims 3 entirely to get the Sims 4, I remember watching a video with TS4 producers when Sims 4 was in development, and they basically said that The Sims 3 was so laggy/buggy and that The Sims 4 is supposed to be optimized and better at running smoothly and was developed in a way to avoid all those issues... :/ Oh how the Plumbobs have turned! :3

Sims 3 was buggy and laggy due to the sheer amount of content it had and the fact it was open world. While things happened in your house, things happened outside your house too. Sims 3 had a million expansion packs and had less content than sims 2’s base game, but it did Have some new stuff and it was nice. I like that sims 3 was a prequel to sims 1, and sims 4 is a complete reboot cuz I prefer to pretend it isn’t part of the original games and they’re just fine as they were.

I just installed the sims 3 on my new laptop (a HP that cost less than $500). Even with literally 3000 pieces of cc and 6 expansions installed, it runs like a dream. Much less laggy, buggy and glitchy than my sims 4. And I don’t need multiple gameplay mods to give my sims personalities

I punished one of my sims with grounding and then he couldn't do ANYTHING without the action was "stealthily" so I spent 24 hours with my sim unable to eat, sleep or even study without being reprimanded by one of his parents. So annoying!

By the way, remember the Sims 3 which also had lag spikes that were the incarnation of the simulation lag back then? You know the times when the games just didn't respond to inputs and time appeared to be frozen, and then it got released with a little boost. Yeah it was annoying, but also the game tried to load the whole town at the same time with limited RAM space, and that was one of the reasons to get homestuck again in Sims 4, to make the game run on toasters smoothly. How is that simulation lag is worse in Sims 4 than in Sims 3?! Just how?!

I think what bothers me the most is how broken conversations are. Sims in conversations inexplicably move to sit facing away from each other. Complete strangers always join in on my sims' date nights with no invite, which without fail makes my sims feel awkward (why did they think this was a good design?! players should choose when to invite sims into a conversation. Obviously!). Selecting an interaction with a sim sitting across from my sim occasionally makes my sim stand up out of her seat and move to a different one?! It’s just so broken and feels completely unplayable

Oh yeah, my "favorite" one from that if sims "set laundry down" after clean & dried, they can't be picked up and put away but then they also can't be washed/dried again because they are "clean". So I have to put them in a bin, sell the bin, and get a new one. Sometimes my sims randomly decide to set laundry down and I don't catch them which is annoying.

I have completely given up on sims 4. I’ve been playing the sims 2 recently and it’s crazy playing it for the first time since childhood and being like, this is the sims I remember. The sims where it’s ACTUALLY fun to play and they feel alive. It made me remember why I love the sims. Sims 2 feels like a labor of love put into making a simulation genera game. The biggest bug I was coming across was that I would try to cancel an action, only for it to get stuck in the queue endlessly loading, which prevented the sim from doing anything. That, and my sims would randomly decided they couldn't use certain objects, even if their objects weren't blocked. I would reset the sim and the object in question, but the sim would still stand there waving saying they can't do that action. And another common bug in my game was that I would tell my sim to go to bed, only for them to get right back out of bed again. I'd have to tell them like 4 or 5 times before they actually stayed in bed. I haven't touched TS4 in quite a while. I just play TS3 instead.

Yeah! for me it takes the whole morning to get the kid into the high chair... then they wouldn't eat... but as I heard that is something they fixed with the last patch, haven't tried it yet.

@@MusicSparkleStar09 Actually I have a bit of an issue giving harvestables to my toddlers, my Sim give it to them and they will eat one but not the second or third harvestables...

@@havenelliott8604 I put the harvestables into the toddler's inventory, and when they are hungry I pause and stack several eating interactions. Sometimes they will glitch in the inventory and refill without my having to add more, and fair warning that if you reset a Sim on the lot sometimes it will cause a bunch of foods to appear on the floor (though that can be helpful too, to me at least).

I would say I rather them not adding more new codes before fixing all other bugs atm. I could already see new bug created by adding imaginary friend....all children and adults will have imaginary friends....or something else even worse.

my sims won’t stop making cakes and leaving them halfway done. even unplayed sims houses are filthy will cake ingredients and mixing bowls. this started since I got the snowy escape ep.

Simulation lag needs definitely to be fixed. I don't know how many times I've lost a sim due to them either freezing or starving to death. Also my toddlers have been take away many times as well because of it. They should add ability to adopt the children, who were taken away from families just like in the sims 2!

At this point EA just needs to ditch TS4 and face the facts. TS4 is not a good game, and after 7 years, will never be a better game than TS3 and TS2. Once they start moving on finally to TS5, I won't be expecting much tbh.

Seeing them “ditch” it would be really, really frustrating, though. Once they are “done” with ts4 and are ready to move on they better damn well fix ALL of the bugs before they abandon ship. Because leaving behind a buggy nightmare of a game would just be monumentally rude to the players. I hope that when ts4 is over EA can at least redeem themselves a little bit by ensuring that their final product is functional.

The add content, ignore bugs marketing strategy could kill the franchise. If things do not improve soon, it's better to leave the ship. I'm looking forward to Paralives, and playing the good older games in the meantime.

In Sims 2/3 things work. In Sims 4 simulation gets lag, bugs are forever present, loading in between lots takes long, traits and emotions are broken, animations are overly happy and sims feel like dolls and not actual individuals. Packs require a lot of mods to work at all, then you must also install more because even with all packs there is not much to do. Plus packs are not integrated with each other at all.

i still believe that being able to update games through the internet is the reason why quality in releases have been dropping, not only for EA, but for the whole gaming industry. back in sims 2, if EA or maxis didn't fix a bug, then crap.... they can't do anything about it. they can only fix it with other expansion packs but that isn't ideal either. and because of that, they put more focus on bug testing and fixing bugs. now that isn't the case. they ship broken games/expansions and THEN patch them later. No!!!! this is so unacceptable!!!!

I've had some weird things with sims washing their hands in another sink in another bathroom after using the toilet? Like... why would they do that? And also something that bothers me is that you can't have any sense of ownership, say if you have three roommates and you want them to have their separate rooms. The options on the doors are bad and if you have a pet it's even worse because you can't choose to have them as an exception? And it's like.. I want my sims to hang out together in their rooms but that doesn't work because then I have to unlock the doors. Ugh, maybe it's just me who can't work it out.

More bugs... When your sim gets asked out on a date, they go, and their date immediately leaves. When your sim is painting and they stop to shoot some hoops. When Sims you’re not controlling take laptops out of their inventory and leave them on other lots or community spaces, and you have to be controlling them to take them back. When you tell them to go to sleep after they woohoo, but they wake up again and try to go nap on the couch. The washer and dryer bugs where some clothes can never be fully dry and clean, it’s like an endless cycle. Sims unable to queue up interactions while they are swimming, you have to get them out of the water first. Lifestyles notifications continuing and lifestyle moodlets still affecting Sims after turning Lifestyles off in settings.

This just makes me more happy that I personally dropped playing TS4 and went to Sims 3. Although I initally dropped it because I ended up quickly getting bored by it, all these bugs and other annoyances just gives me all the more reason to rarely play the game. I’m also happy that I’m no longer giving money for such a buggy game. TS3 has had me play it for hours at a time w/o noticing or getting bored. I’ve also only bought the content for the game I can see myself actually using instead of just buying a new game. For refrence I think I dropped the game around the release of Get Famous.

I thought simulation lag was a problem of my computer but now i see that it's a problem coming from the game, omg why is this game it's so broke, one of the most annoying ones was from the eco life style when ALL the npcs steals all the items from every simgle loot, i don't know if this was patched but i'm jus using a mod for prevent that thing happen again.

My sim will ask their cat “what’s wrong?” And the notification in the corner of the screen will say “blank wants a nice clean litter box” even when the litter box is clean. I always have to end up buying a new litter box in build mode even if it’s the same fucking one.

My 'trick' to solve the simulation lag is: I save the game and comeback to live mode, sims will resume what they are doing after that. For some reason this works for me. Hope works for more people.

My biggest compliant: The stairs! If I put a rail, my sims can't go up the stairs even if you can't see the rail. This used to not be a thing and is the only way to make big open loft spaces.

If the community did a serious strike; a legit "we're not buying ANY new packs until you fix the current bugs and improve the design of the base game" strike, the team would probably have worked to get things together years ago. But that won't happen, because people want to keep buying new stuff since the current game is so boring! With the Sims 4 we lose no matter what :(

A really annoying bug aside from simulation lag is that when sims paint and there’s a basketball hoop on the lot, they’ll stop painting and just start playing basketball?? I’ve had to lock sims in the house or put the hoop in the family inventory, so annoying!

I like how in sims 3 (which simgurus portray as worse and way laggier game) I get one simulation lag every 10 irl hours of gameplay and in sims 4 I cant play 20min without sim just questioning their existence and staring into the void at least 3 times

I've only been playing Sims 4 for a year. I was lucky in the first few months because I didn't encounter many bugs, but each new patch has caused chaos in my game. I have the problem with simulation lag, sims cooking meal after meal without eating what they cook, and I've recently had problems with travel. The clock keeps running for hours, but I can't save or click on anything. The screen gets grayed out, so I have to open my task manager to close the program. Something that also makes me mad is that my toddler developed a "festering grudge" against his mother. He gets mad or sad every time she walks into the room, and she hasn't done anything wrong! Why can toddlers develop a hatred for their parents? It makes no sense. I've played all of the versions of Sims, and I don't remember this many bugs in Sims 1, 2, or 3. I also don't remember them releasing patches this often. I could be wrong though.

The lagging is my main issue. I reset my sim more than I have them doing things. So freaking annoying. There’s also a bug where my sim is painting and she’ll stop to go play with her cat and it seems to happen when she’s halfway or close to being done with her painting. I have to queue up so she redirects to painting.

My least fav bugs: Simulation lag Ignoring commands Drink then puddles appear bc it causes negative moodlets tbh I don’t trust that it’s been “fixed” Commands get stuck in gameplay all the time, like when you cancel go to bed action after sims are in bed they will get up and do things but the sleep action is still there stuck in the queue so you have to reset sims constantly Toddler learning bars stay on all the time even when they aren’t building any skill Idk if this is a bug or more of a design choice but the “multitask” function where my sim will constantly get up and pet the dog or talk to it while eating, makes it 10x longer to eat. And also when moving laundry from washer to dryer the sim will instead put wet clothes in their inventory instead of the dryer and when you click it again from the inventory they will just put it on the floor Also not eating leftovers but I remember this being an issue in the sims 2 as well, sims just keep making new food Edited to add: random townies joining your conversation washing dishes in the bathroom, I removed all my bathroom sinks and never put them in builds to avoid this Mopping up dog pee puddles that are outside like what’s the point? You potty trained the dog to go out so you don’t have to mop it up in the house? Parents holding festering grudges towards children because the child didn’t want to do something as a toddler and it upset the parent. Toddlers sitting on the couch with a plate of food and just holding it and not eating it while they are literally starving and could get taken away but won’t eat

I remember when I played sims 4 (about maybe more than half year ago )always played with speed 2 cause speed 3 just so buggy as hell. If even I don't like Sims 4 anymore, I still hope they don't will let it be buggy when they move on sims 5 or else.

There r places they just won't go or sit, even though nothing is in the path, they also won't stop grilling food outside. There will be plates of grilled food that they don't eat
