Sims 4 Trait Improvements? Not Really...(But there are bunk beds.)

When they said on the livestream that bookworms will now get more fun from reading books, I legit started laughing: it took them 6 YEARS to make a bookworm have more fun from reading?? How could this be overlooked in the first place and how could it take so long to be improved? I'm glad they finally changed it, but I'm not going to be happy that they gave me a spoon after I've been eating with bare hands for 6 years. It's ridiculous

i really want to be happy about these updates, and a part of me is, but it’s just overshadowed by the *blatant* fact that they had the ability to do this the entire time but genuinely did not care to do so until now. Then they had to hype up the update as if they figured out how to f**king travel through time and switch dimensions only to give us half assed after thoughts.

They changed the games platform for the Sims 4. I truly believe they didn't research or have as much understanding about how to develop the game properly when they first rushed it out. They are still learning about the platform now with what they can & can't do..and this factor should have been sorted Before the game even went to final stages before release.

However, if that's the case, they should remove the Hates Children trait entirely since you would think the sim would hate even their own kids. I'm a console player so I can't use mods and in my opinion we shouldn't need mods for something as simple as personality traits. And I'm sure the sims has dealt with sensitive topics before in previous iterations. A life simulation game shouldn't be all puppies and rainbows because life isnt puppies and rainbows. Not saying they need to go wild and add things that could actually upset someone like post partum depression or things like that. But it would be nice to have more darker situations again. I hope I explained my opinion well ack. I get nervous. 😓

I didnt see it yet, but I can imagine that, they are so boring and not informative in their stream, but at the same time sometime they mentionne really important things like for the Bust the dust kit, which they said, DUSTY, will be the new normal/ok state of your home, and I guess player didnt catch it up, so now they have ruined my experience of stuggling with dust, and nerf it to a point that its not even worth it to have this pack, I am very frustrated about that, I loved it like it was, so basically I have been scam, sold something, for not being what it is supposed to be in the end... very unimpressed, they bent to the people who cant make a decision to not buy a pack according to their preference, just because those egocentric fools wanted it to be nerf to their will, instead of respecting people who are not always on social media and like the pack as it was... I will agree that the bunnies were very frequent, but I am tolerent and understand not everything will please me on a pack, so I dealed with it...

You can find out while playing, which isn't new. The finding out only while playing, I mean. Those descriptions, and this might explain the game as a whole if you read into things... Those trait descriptions basically describe what those traits are in real life, but say almost nothing as to what the traits do ingame. For example that foodie sims can autonomously cook even when not hungry, or that good sims always cry whenever there is a gravestone. Or, the opposite - the only thing clumsy trait really does based on my observation is doing that "oops I dropped a dish" animation when washing dishes. Nothing that matches "these sims can laugh at themselves".

Tell me about it! The Sims 4 base game could never compare to the Sims 2 base game, especially when first released. Never could have gotten away with such a bad base game release back in the mid 2000s. Everything is only about money nowadays. This has also been one of my biggest frustrations with the newest Animal Crossing game.

@@Vespiquen33 As amazing as the Sims 2 is, please don't mislead those who haven't played but are thinking about it. The Sims 2 is *NOT* a good game, at all. The fact that your game is corrupted at install proves this. It's a programming nightmare, absolute trash. Yes, it's pretty, and yes it does have gameplay (Sims 4 obviously does not), but out of all their Sims games it is the WORST because of it being corrupted. Even Sims 3 is programmed better, with its laggy ass self. Both Maxis and EA were not known to make "good" games in the 2000s. They made fun games, but not games that could be counted as quality in the programming world. But since no other life sims ever existed (and still do not), all we had and still have is Sims unfortunately, so it's hard to choose a better made game when there aren't any that exist yet and none that could probably ever rival the empire EA has built unfortunately

@@nyxnightmare3542 Hmmm what ? My Sims 2 game doesn't have as many issues as the Sims 4 has. It has absolutely NO stimulation lag. Okay you have some stuff corrupted, but it's well documented now, so don't try to resurrect Sims in Strangetown and you'll be just fine. That's it, the end. I recently learnt also that you shouldn't ask a burglar what their wants or fears are, because that made my game crash, but that's basically all I can think about haha You should have seen all the LastException files in my Sims 4 folder before I uninstalled it... And they were happening even without mods. But really the worst thing about Sims 4 in terms of playability is the horrendous simulation lag. Because of it I'm not relaxed when I play, it sucks all the tiny bit of fun I could have in the first place.

I remember a video I saw, don't know by whom anymore, and she tested the different traits with 3 different Sims, same look, gender, age, everything but the personality. She build 3 rooms for each Sim, all with things for their basic needs like hunger, bladder, hygine and then special objects like a guitar, work out machine and a computer. One of the Sims was active, one a geek and one loved music. Whon knew, they behaved all the same, they didn't use the objects of their interest more than the other Sims. I'll look up the title of the video and by whom it was.

Bat is a concept artist, and probably doesn't know too much more beyond the scope of doing the concepts, texture swatches, and some paint overs of the CAS/BuildBuy artists. Azure on the other hand, as a producer, should probably have a better idea of the game's scope.

I feel like everything I've seen about this update has been majority bad. It's just sad to see that we all got so excited again and then we just got disappointed all over again, because this seemed rushed and unfinished just like everything else. I was really disappointed when I found out you can't put a dresser or a 2 tile desk under a loft bed because then that space is just going to be really empty but i am glad we can put a 1 tile desk under it at least but it also means you can't put a double bed under it either which is dissipointing and the metal bed is from parenthood I think

I genuinely feel bad for the devs at this point, assuming Sims are managed the same way other EA properties are, they [devs] are most likely not even able to sit down on any more complex issue, but rather make to do whatever they can in shortest time, so EA can have another "stuff pack" to boost their quarter sales, everyone else be damned :/

Thing that i love in the sims 2 is that you cannot have only good traits for your sim because you don't have enough Points and this is super realistic because nobody is perfect.

“[EA is] missing something and I don’t know what it is” Cindy, I’ll tell you why they don’t seem to be listening: EA is not making the sims 4 because they really enjoy the series. EA is not making the sims 4 out of any passion. It is to make money. They care about minimizing work and effort while maximizing profit. Their spaghetti code that can’t handle their overpriced and overproduced DLC is the most obvious example of that. On a controversial side note- I don’t actually excuse simgurus for (some) of this behavior. Don’t forget that it’s somewhat on THEM (dif gurus admitted to advocating *heavily* for these things) that strangerville was produced, that batuu was produced, and that elders + teens + children + toddlers are not a focus.

funny how i have lots of packs for sims 4 and i get bored pretty easily, no matter how many mods i put in and then i literally have TWO packs for sims 3 and nraas and i could go on playing for HOURS and only want to stop when i have to eat or sleep, just like it was with sims 2. i never had the money to buy more than one pack for sims 2 and i was too young to understand this too, and when they released the ultimate collection in origin i wasn't aware of it because i wasn't engaged in the sims community. i regret that throughly because when i was 14 i literally had the base game and ofb and would play it non stop, without one single mod and i would have a BALL. it's embarrassing how bad sims 4 is for being a 7-year-old game from the same franchise as amazing games like sims 2 and 3, specially sims 2. CAS and build mode are nice... but at what cost?

The thing about bunk beds that makes me laugh is they picked one of the cheapest base game beds, which I don't really use much for kids, and the fact they were so lazy they made the metal bed from Parenthood (I think it's from that pack) base game and converted it into a bunk bed... my dumb ass really thought the "auto bunk beds on/off" somehow meant all single beds were available for bunk beds if you placed one on the other but no, that's expecting too much right?

I used to play sims 2 and 3 when i was a kid. Sims 2 disc was given to me by my brother on my bday and we loved it so much. I helped my granny around the house all summer and she payed me to thank, so i bought sims 3 (base game). I cheated to get packs (downloaded them for free in the internet) and felt so bad about it. People, who created that games did a great job and i feel so sorry, that i did it. When it came to sims 4, i decided i`d do it right and buy a base game and never cheat. I have a base game and several packs. And i regret that i spent my money on it. It is such a mess and does not cost it. It is a good build simulator, but no longer a life simulator. All sims are the same, they just look different, but they all act the same. The most thing i hate is how they gather in a park and chat with everybody! Multitasking is a huge and only improvement in gameplay, i guess. But. It is funny to look at how your sim play chess and speaks to someone who is behind him, turning his had and trying to see. Every time when i make two sims chat, one always goes away and sits somewhere far away, showing his back to a sim he speaks to. That's so unrealistic. And they all are the same. I can build for a couple of hours, but as for gameplay - 20 minutes. I love to watch sims 2 and 3 letsplays. But sims 4 is fun only in builds, i think. May be creators of sims 4 know, that they can do nothing about gameplay and just continue to improve this build-stuff-simcustom. Because if they want to do something about gameplay, they need to REDO and REMAKE almost everything in sims behavior and a system.

This bunk bed thing is really messing with me. The second you said you need moveobjects, I almost threw my device. I don’t play with mods and I don’t use cheats for moving objects usually. Don’t wanna bother to figure it out and shouldn’t have to. When I play sims 3 I can make the ultimate study room for a teenager with a loft bed. In fact I have a mid loft bed in my apartment with a couch under in real life inspired by my old sims 3 rooms and I’m far from a teenager lol. How could they not consider this in implementing bunk beds. They exist for creating more space so how... how.... I haven’t played sims 4 in 8 months and I just play sims 2 now because my laptop can’t handle sims 3. But sims 4 lost me with this one. Relaxing in your own bed?.... don’t even get me started on that...
