You're one of the best creators. In terms of scope, design and video presentation. This might sound weird to alot of people but I think you acknowledge this which is videos that have an ASMR quality. Discussing plant and animal life is inherently soothing to us as humans I think and presenting the videos in such a way makes them both an educational and relaxing experience

I was inspired by your video back in the days, immediately went outside and collected some bottom of a forest in a jar. 2,5 years later its still alive and good, some species have died but the moss is thriving 🎉 the scape i made has mostly decomposed, might update it this upcoming summer 🤩 awesome to see and be able to smell the forest in the middle of cold, dark and long finnish winter.

U can put small piece of food scraps in there every once in a while and have them decompose with help of all those animals and maybe you could add a couple of worms they can survive anywhere. I had a small terrarium that I overwatered and I had some worms in there. I forgot about the terrarium and after I opened it up I found the worm and it was doing perfectly fine.

Wow Tanner, your Terrarium builds are truly impressive! I'm a big fan of moss too, and I think incorporating different varieties of mushrooms into your designs could add a unique touch. Have you ever considered creating a jar for ants or beetles? Darkling beetles would be a perfect match for the mushrooms you mentioned. And a neon terrarium with Green Pepe, Bitter Oyster, and coconut flower mushrooms sounds fascinating! Just a suggestion, but I hope you find it inspiring!

Hi. We used to use jars like this to vacuum seal for chemistry. You don't necessarily need a gasket. You seal it with Vaseline around the lip, though in not sure how often you would have to do that.

Oh yeah, I also used one of these large cookie jars in a build I recently did. I added a big chunk of mopani wood from Petsmart as the centerpiece, then added a fern in the rear and several cuts of fittonia of varying size, then added some moss before covering it all with leaf litter. Then I added earthworms, springtails, dubia roaches, and some local isopods and small snails as the cleanup crew and other general life. The isopods ended up eating all the moss though, but otherwise the jar is doing great so far. The one thing I'm missing is millipedes, as we don't have that kind out where I live, and the one time I brought some home with me from a vacation, they ultimately did not survive long enough to reproduce.

Hey Tanner I was wondering, is it possible to use coconut fiber matting like about half an inch thick instead of the window screen that way it's all natural and it won't biodegrade it does biodegrade but it takes like hundreds and hundreds of years to degrade. just look at the coconut fiber that was found under the island in Maine where supposedly the big treasure was buried oak Island. and they've found coconut fiber from about 400 years ago and it still perfect it's like it was put down yesterday. so I was wondering is it possible to use like coconut fiber mat that you just cut to size for the container and put that underneath the charcoal layer and above the drainage layer? that way you don't have to use any product that's man made in your terrariums? What do you think?

Would snails do very well in an environment like this? Could potentially help to deal with the algae buildup. Also, I'd probably give up on ferns if they're the thing requiring you to do regular watering that you've repeatedly shown you're not interested in improving on. No judgement or anything; you are the way you are. It's useful to design your projects with your own character in mind.

Do you ever sell your terrariums to local buyers? You may have answered this before, but I'm curious! I know you sometimes take your projects apart since you can only keep so many, but your skill is so impressive! I have most of the supplies to get started, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a design. I went to a consignment store a few years back and they had closed terrariums for sale! I was a college student at the time, but i was so tempted to splurge.

I have a question about when u do ur maintenance... I always see that u switch out the plants if needed, trimming and such as u go, but how do u know if/when to replenish the critter stock? Can u tell from the outside looking in? From the smell when u open it? Or do u just automatically add a spoonful on the few occasions when u do these 'carings'?
@SerpaDesign

If I do it's usually just a proactive measure, but truthfully they're not really needed after a certain point. They're most beneficial when a terrarium is first established.
