Right? If someone asks me for evidence of something I start with "data collected from..." Like the phosphine recently found in cloud decks of Venus. Evidence for that was collected from both the JCMT and ALMA telescopes using the technique of spectral analysis of interference patterns in the light collected by the telescopes. And the paper in Nature Astronomy has all the collected data, what potential problems the instruments might have, how they addressed such concerns, when the data was collected, what other possible causes the gas may have, how they verified their findings with seperate institutions using seperate technologies and instruments and so on. You need to point to something. Not think about concepts.

The simulation hypothesis may not be far-fetched. It goes something like this: If any society advances to the point that people can play computer-like games that simulate a universe, then many, many, many, ... , many such simulations are likely going on in that one society. If it's possible to create these simulations, then it might be way more likely that we are in one than that we are not in one. What we don't know is whether it is even reasonable to expect any society to advance to the point of being able to create these simulations. If it is likely, then we're probably in one. If it's not likely, then of course we're not in one. So those who are making fun of this caller don't know the science behind this, and the caller appears not to really understand it either.

You can not demonstrate that universe has to be conscious for conscsiousness to be, but you can say that the universe having the ability to produce consciousness (e.g. within humans) is due to simpler characteristics of it. The one thing that he didn’t mention that many pandeists cite the double slit experiment and how observation influences the interference pattern as proof of a conscious substrate. I must admit as a non scientist, when I first heard that it sounded like conscious (observation) was a fundamental of matter. It’s only a leap of faith from that idea to believing in a universal mind or the simulation. But then I heard physicists explain that observation is not what we think it sounds like and there is nothing mystical going on. To be honest, I’m not sure what to believe as I don’t understand it for myself, but I’m inclined to believe the people who actually study this stuff for a living rather than mystics and new age philosophers.
@plasticvision63555 жыл бұрын
Ronald Jordan Absolutely correct. In terms of what physicists argue, it’s actually very simple. It’s actually the way the measuring apparatus interacts that gives rise to the observed result. In other words it’s the act of measurement itself that gives rise to an observation. Ultimately, one can argue that it is a conscious entity that decides how a measurement is made, so in that sense, and only that sense, what is observed does depend on the action of a conscious agent. But that is quite different from claiming an agents consciousness in and only of itself influences the observation without the mediating effect of measurement apparatus. I hope this helps clarify things for you?

I've never understood the attraction people have for the "simulation hypothesis" If this is a simulation, then we are all essentially just programs. If you think the people (or whatever they are) outside the simulation, that created the simulation, are going to somehow transfer you into their world when you die (or the simulation ends) then you're a fucking idiot. Why would they? If you are playing The Sims, and you're done playing, do you throw a switch that makes your Sims characters become real people? There would seem to be no reason why they (the whoevers that created the simulation) would want to take "us" into "their" "real" world... if they did, they would quickly overpopulate their own world, and for what? Ok, maybe you could make some argument that maybe they would decide to "rescue" some of these Sim Characters, the especially great ones, but what makes you think you'd make the cut? Are you as smart as Steven Hawking? As beautiful as Marylin Monroe? As creative as Picasso? What the hell would make you worth saving? And who the hell even knows what these beings outside the simulation would value? Maybe they'd want the ugliest, most immoral, craziest people from inside the sim, we have no way of knowing. Maybe they would only value left handed people who naturally do not have wisdom teeth... you cannot know what criteria they would use, IF they would even consider bringing anyone out at all... and to make matters worse, how do you know THEY (the people outside our simulation that created our simulation) aren't simulated themselves by some other somethings? And so on? It's just another "maybe this is some way I can pretend to avoid death" wishful thinking exercise, and not a very believable one.

Are you good enough to go to Heaven? Have you lied, stolen, used the name of Jesus Christ as a swear word? Have you lusted after a man or woman? If you have, you have broken God’s law. If you stood before God, would you be innocent or guilty? Would you go to heaven or hell? God is “rich in mercy” and doesn’t want you to go to hell. So God sent His Son Jesus Christ to suffer and die on a cross to take the punishment for your sins to save you from hell. You must turn from your sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ to save you from hell so that God can grant you eternal life in Heaven. Then read your Bible and make Jesus Lord of your life. God bless you.

Sobo Sobo if god is merciful why did he need to sacrifice himself to himself? Even human beings have the power to forgive. Not god, he can’t forgive without human sacrifice. Not merciful at all. But don’t worry, the god you’re talking about doesn’t exist.
@BronsonLivesHere2095 жыл бұрын
Jay Middleton God is merciful, but He is also just. The Bible says “without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sin.”
@jaymiddleton17825 жыл бұрын
Sobo Sobo but god made up those rules. He’s the one who decided that sin can’t be forgiven without bloodshed. Ergo not merciful.

Sobo, you're gonna have to stop copy pasting this shit and posting it in every single video. I'm going to start reporting you for spam if you do not. Make an argument, not a script.

Before we talk about "good enough to go to heaven", you have some other stuff to establish first. First, that this "heaven" exists. Second, that someone actually wants to go there. There are more, actually, but we will skip those for the sake of expediency.
