This capability seems to have been added into Ecamm now and this workaround isn't necessary. Look under Settings->Recording. The issue I'm having is verifying that my Mac can handle recording all the isolated video tracks without issue.

Yes that can be a challenge, 2 video feeds is normally OK. I use a custom built HDMI to USB convertor that I detail in another video and the capture card does a lot of the video processing for me to reduce the load on my mac

How do you connect 4 camera and 1 mic to your computer? Any additional hardware to purchase? Thanks from Tokyo

With Ecamm or OBS it's easy, in fact there are a couple of ways you can do it. How I do it normally is I connect all my cameras and I plug my mic into one of my cameras using a Zoom H6 like I show in this video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eovIdoWfg8R_j9E ) then in Ecamm or OBS I select the audio from that Camera has the source, it doesn't matter if that camera is the active camera at that time or not, the audio is still available. Or, you could use a device like a ATEM Mini. The other way would be to plug an audio interface like the Zoom H6 or a Focusrite directly into your computer and select that as the source, however doing this you're going to have to delay the audio by about 5 frames in Ecamm or OBS to make sure it's in sync, there is a setting that allows you to do that, in Ecamm you set the delay using the number of frames, it's normally between 4 and 8 and in OBS you'd use milliseconds.

For this video, what did you use for: 1) which Mac model, 2) which camera integration device like ATEM Mini or UltraStudio 4K mini BDLKULSDMINI4K? I have Macbook pro 13 inch 2018 model. I fear this is not enough to run Ecamm and feed in 3 camera (4k) data. I am considering the following options for RECORDING all 3 camera (4k) simultaneously: 1) ATEM mini pro ISO but I fear 4k IS NOT SUPPORTED? 2) Ultastudio 4k mini with 3 converters (HDMI to SDI). Then link to Macbook Pro. My buddy uses Macbook Pro 2018 for this. 3) Powerful Mac (M1 or more) with x3 camlink 4k linked to each 4k cameras. I understand you can ONLY put 1 camlink 4k per 1 thunderbolt bus. I read through Apple site but doesn't specify how many thunderbolt bus (only how many thunerbolt plugs). So I fear I buy Mac Studio and learn I can't connect 3 camlink 4k. Many thanks!

@@williewooh The first question you need to ask yourself is where are you outputting your video too. If you are streaming live I doubt 4k is going to be required ( hence the ATEM is a 1080 output ). Not many, if any sites support 4k streaming and working in 1080 gives you a lot more options and the equipment is a lot cheaper of course. For my Ecamm I bought the base level Mac mini but I did up the RAM to 16GB and throw in a 1TB drive. I expected this to struggle, but boy it just eats it up, I've even tried editing 4k video on it with lots of transitions and effects and it just deals with it, it's actually not much slower than my iMac Pro which is maxed out and cost over 10 grand. What a machine for the money - amazing! Now, as luck would have it, I'm hoping in the next week or so to release a video that shows you how to take a BlackMagic 4k Decklink Quad HDMI card and connect it to a Mac using a PCIe enclosure. Then it will be bye bye Camlinks and hello 4 x 4K 60fps HDMI inputs with only one thunderbolt card to my Mac mini. And yes I do like my ATEM ISO, if you are going to get an ATEM my advice is to spend the extra and get the ISO version, it actually records all the feeds all the time and not just the camera that is active at the time.

Ecamm doesn't work on the PC, but you could likely do something very similar using OBS which does work on the PC
