The Bee Gees were one of the most played at skating rinks when I was young in the mid-late 70’s. Very popular.

This song summed up “Saturday Night Fever” perfectly. For those of us who were old enough to go and see it. The music supported the movie and the movie supported the music. So whenever you hear the songs you remember the scenes from “Fever”. As far as I’m concerned the greatest soundtrack ever🎼

You're correct... The 70's. Many people liked to say "Disco Sucks". We heard that all the time, but everyone still got up and danced. Two of my college room mates worked at a disco called "The Dixie Electric Company". For the first several years they enforced a dress code that required ladies to wear mid length dresses, and guys had dress pants or designer jeans, platform shoes, and silk shirts. The tables had table cloths, the dance floor was lighted from below, and there was a light show overhead. The DJ controlled the light show. It was like going to a circus. You would have loved it. The fad wore off in several years but it was fun for a while. There was so much great new music to enjoy as a teenager in the 70's, and the Bee Gees were certainly a part of it.

Some of my favorite songs by the Bee Gees you might want to listen to: Disco Era: You Should Be Dancing, Night Fever, You Stepped Into My Life, Love So Right, Love You Inside Out, Nights on Broadway, Jive Talkin, Fanny (Be Tender with My Love), Pre Disco: Run To Me, Lonely Days, How Do You Mend a Broken Heart, Words, I've Got To Get a Message To You, Massachusetts, I Started a Joke, New York Mining Disaster 1941 They also wrote a lot of songs for other singers. For example: If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman), Emotion (Samantha Sang), and Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton)

They also wrote a beautiful song for Celine Dion "immortality" her voice is so AMAZING!! I love The BEE GEES Always have and always will. Also, I LOVED The Disco Era.. but, IMO I think maybe they couldn't dance the Disco moves. So, people started talking about how much it s*cks. Then it started to fade away. But, when I hear "Saturday night fever" I still get up and dance to it. Can't go wrong with The Bee Gees and Andy Gibb!

FUNNY THING about the SNF Album... "More than a Woman " was done by the Bee Gee's and covered by the Tavares ON THE SAME ALBUM (Making this the First Album to have both the Original Artists AND the Cover artist on it! If they had had more space on the Album They Could've done the Same to "If I can't have you"... Yvonne Ullmann was on the Album, but the Bee Gee's wrote and recorded it as well.

The Bee Gees had been around for awhile, but they went extreme in 1977 when they did most of the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta. It was in the disco era, and it was definetly considered disco music. The whole dico thing I personally loved, the lights, the music and the dancing. People Like the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, and many more had very up beat and long winded songs. The biggest controversy started over hating disco was because the whole dico thing was started by gay and trans people in the underground clubs of big city communities, Philly, New York etc. Saturday Night Fever actaully changes a lot of that. Suddenly small town Americans were dressing up trying to be like John Travolta, a womans man and dancer working a deadbeat job and living as a weekend warrior. You HAD to like the music, if you walked into the right club, it was so loud it would cut right through you. Im clean now, and have been for 16 years. But in my twenties, it was nothing to suck down several drinks and hit several lines of coke, every hour on the hour, sometimes more. I could dance then from 9pm til 2 pm and never stop but to use the bathroom. Id learned the hustle, and had my own moves as well. The clothes, the jewelry, squeeqy clean, bathed in Giorgios. Glad rags on and change in the pockets, it was time to dance. I would never live them days now, but I cant say Im sorry I did then......

This song is one of six songs that the Bee Gees wrote for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack they're they're also have a seventh song on that soundtrack that they wrote for Yvonne Elliman so they actually wrote seven songs on that soundtrack and then there were a few others to it I can't remember the others but there's probably another half a dozen or so songs on that soundtrack.

I lived through the Disco era and it was so fun. Actually, we didn't really do that whole finger pointing dance move that so many people have come to associate with Disco. That more or less came out for the movie, "Saturday Night Fever." But in all of the Discos I was ever in, I never saw anyone do that move once, lol.
