And all the talk about souls coming from god and being what transforms potential into something physical and the manifestation of evil, its (almost haha) like im listening to a conversation between ben shapiro and jordan peterson hahaha

53:50 "We've never had a Demon's Souls sequel" Bloodborne was going to be, apparently, based on how many of the files and text strings say "Demon's Souls 2". Also, there's a *lot* of cut dialogue in Bloodborne where people say "Umbasa". Part of me is vaguely curious how that would have worked, tbh. I dunno if we need Richie or Lance or Sanadsk or Lokey or who to figure out "how would Demon's Souls have connected to Bloodborne back when it was Demon's Souls 2" but I wanna know.

Your in luck! Im pretty sure these guys actualy have recorded a podcast about that specifically haha, im sorry im not sure how its called though. You should be able to find it by typing "bloodborne demon souls" in the channel searchbar

@@ApenBaard Oh, I know they've mentioned it a bunch, I just didn't think there was actually a in-depth podcast about it specifically? About whether the Great Ones are Demons, whether Cainhurst/Yharnam are the Northern Limit, whether the armor and swords and shields and chalices are really the Fluted Armor, etc.
@DzikiWaclaw4 жыл бұрын
@@scion9588 Well the only concrete thing I can recall Sin, Rich and a guest (i dont remember now if it was Lokey or someone else) were talking about in regards to how Demon's Souls 2 would connect do DeS1 is that the challice dungeons were supposed to be ruins of Boletaria. Other than that they said what you said - cut "Umbasa", some text strings and that's it.

There will be a demons souls 2 or Bloodborne 2. Sony aint gonna let that drop.
@LavosYT4 жыл бұрын
Miyazaki has stated in interviews that while they thought about making Demon's Souls 2 at first, they quickly settled on making a new IP - Bloodborne - instead. So I'm not sure a DeS2 started development at all.

Regarding the creation of demons, I doubt those guys all went to the Old One and said: "I want to be a demon." Allant certainly did, but his disfigured body is inside the Old One as proof of that. We see several corpses, which we can assume are the bodies of some of the people who became demons. The Old Hero's body is lying on the alter in his crypt. The Tower Knight's body is inside the great wall of Boletaria and The Penetrator's body is on top of the gate just after the Tower Knight battle. Of course, those bodies could just be other soldiers that used the same weapons, but that kind of pointless corpse placement isn't something I think a souls game would do. One possible explanation for the creation of the demons is that the "False King" demon, which presumably had Allant's knowledge of the land and its history, used its power to convert great heroes, beasts, monsters etc. (past and present) into new demons wherever the fog spread. I assume that the only reason this doesn't happen to the player is because of the Nexial Binding. This is further backed up by the fact that only once you leave the nexus and visit The Old One personally can you become a demon yourself. The False King never tries to convert you because he can't. Continued in reply...

Consider, that this is a world that has (or had) dragons. Dragons are often portrayed as intelligent, so them having powerful souls isn't an issue. Now we have an explanation for how monsters and beats became demons. The dragons certainly didn't visit the old one and ask to become demons. How would they fit inside its mouth? Also, remember what Allant said when you enter The Old One? "You are our first visitor. May you be welcome here." I'd go so far as to say that a living body isn't required to become a demon. Indeed, the body is likely abandoned in the process. If true, demons need not merely be the souls of powerful individuals but might be amalgamations of souls. The Tower Knight, for example, might have been created from many hundreds of the knights slain by the False King and the Dragon God might have been created from the souls of generations of dead dragon's enduring souls.

Fun fact: King Allant can lower your character level with Soul Sucker/Soul Drain, so I would argue it does happen in game, if you allow him to perform the attack. So yes they do properly convey the attack, but Soul Sucker is an attack reserved for King Allant, with connections to the Old Monk and Maiden in Black.

The title could also be read as "you are the Demon and you are on a quest to collect souls to decice the fate of the world", as you need to stop all the Demons in the world to have audience with the Old One. Continuing from this, there's no need for a direct contact with the Old One to become a Demon, proven by the fact that Allant himself isn't a demon, as he doesn't drop any Demon's Soul upon defeat (the "Beast Demon's Soul belongs to the Old One): killing humans and demons to collect their souls is enough to transform into one. There's clearly no pattern regarding the Demons we fight in the game: some are myths coming to life like in the Shrine of Storm, others are man-made creations like the Fool's Idol and Maneater of Latria, while in Boletaria the Demons are nothing more than a corruption of the king and his most loyal knights, yet there are weird exceptions such as the Armor Spider of Stonefang and the Dirty Colossus of the Valley of Defilment.
@somecunt85793 жыл бұрын
I think the collective theme is that the demons were conceived from an idol of worship, in Boletaria they are idolized soldiers, as well as a king, the Flame Lurker is a legendary warrior, the dragon god was a literal deity, the fool's idol and the Monk also fit this theme, and the same can be said about everything in Shrine of Storms, as well as about Astrea. It is true that the Maneaters and the Spider, as well as Leechmonger and the Colossus don't quite fit with this, however we get literally no info on what these even are, with the spider literally being ripped from another game to save time, so maybe it's not so much that they don't fit the theme, it's just that it wasn't communicated how they would've due to a lack of time.

This man is a Souls encyclopedia. I knew the bit about the archstones being shaped like weird tapir heads, but I didn't know that they likely reference to Japanese mythology, and a baku makes a lot of sense. It also explains Drowzee and Munna from pokemon, which are dream-related tapir things.
