There is no other vocal coach giving away so much for free. Most vocal coaches on KZbin cannot sing like you anyway. Moreover rocksingers who can possibly sing like you, often cannot teach it as one famous rocksinger has just recently admitted in an interview.

Simply amazing tips Ken, you´re the go to channel for everything regarding singing in my opinion. And your honesty is one of the things that i love the most, because as you say in so many of your videos, you display students so sings the songs and you do as well. And i applaude you for that as well, and also for giving so much useful information, without it ever being boring to listen to. Can´t wait for your next video, would be amazing if it was a singers then or now or a isolated vocals video, because i really enjoy those alot. But no matter what kind of video you upload Ken, i am always excited to watch them. :)

Yep, another superb video: 100% usefulness, no nonsense. One way I am working the Hs (in public speaking) is by keeping the throat as for H but pronouncing whatever I have to pronounce with front of mouth. Aside from that, it is very easy to have a silent H whenever a breath is taken.

The slider exercises in the course must be the most effective way to improvement, at least for me. I can sense that I am able to stitch the two registers together much better now. When I joined I had basically zero mixed voice below A4. When I tried going lower the chest voice just blew the mix out of the way, like blowing out a candle. I realize now I was too loud. Never do it louder than you can connect. Further up the head side was able to sustain a higher volume, but not down where the chest becomes too powerful. Now I can mix from the G4 and the sound has strength. I think a couple of lower notes will eventually come as I practise more. I can pace myself better also. Maybe I am complicating things by putting songs that are already considered difficult in a higher key, but I like that kind of challenge. It makes things easier if you one day are asked to do these tunes in their standard key.

I can sing Creed's Scott Stapp almost perfectly, along with Peal Jam, many Elvis tunes even Brett Michaels. I have a tendency to push too hard on the high end. However I really want to be able to pull off Kiss by a Rose by Seal. That smooth relaxed Smokey Robinson style is a mountain b4 me. I need all the help I can get. I believe this will help. So the key of the next building block is making the constants PoP.

Thank you for the great videos which are a big help to many of us on our singing journey. I have a question about your voice. It sometimes sound nasal, it seems to me more in higher notes in your head voice or notes which last long. Maybe this is a funny question, but here it is... Do you clog your nose to stop air going out through it?
@kentamplin2 жыл бұрын
The raising of the soft palate in the back of the throat is what mitigates how much passes through the velo nasal port. Controlling the soft palate is key to nasality and or placement into the resonators in the front of the face and through the nose

Hey Ken … I used your program for years during my touring days… mainly vol 1 to warm up before a gig then upto 3 … it’s been a while since I’ve sang and I’ve lost confidence a bit of range and stamina … which volume would you recommend I start with? I was thinking vol 2-3 coupled with 5 as it’s my mix I really want to retrieve ! I have tried posting this on the forum but had no luck for some reason ! Many thanks
@kentamplin2 жыл бұрын
I’d start back with volume one just to be refreshed with the basics after a couple three weeks you should be able to move on into volume two. But try not to go too fast and make certain that you have your core strength in your abdomen with diaphragmatic support and that you are really truly using open throat technique and managing your air.

Salt rooms can dry you out. They won’t damage the cords but prolonged dryness can make the cords a bit leathery. Many people use a Neti pot with saline solution or salt water to clear chronic sinusitis.
