I know exactly, 200% of what you're saying! I began my performing, by sharing at church and of course I only. choose songs that meant something to me

And I it almost, never failed; I would be in tears or at least chocking a bit on the lyrics. Still, to this day, my favorite artists are , not only my favorite because of their skill; but their authenticity, relatability, and raw, emotion. if fact, having amazing skill, as paramount as that is, seems to play less a part in the way we choose what music and other media we consume. We have to be more than just pure, gorgeous skill! I mean, not that she doesn’t have an amazing talent and wide range of skill sets and talents but Billie Elish didn’t likely become so famous for her gorgeous voice, though it is the most unique, most impossible to replicate, complicated , beautiful voice, but I believe it was her relatability !! We all love Billie! She is the most consistently relatable, singer, songwriter. I am so jealous of her and would love to get to know her better and I say better because, she has succeeded as an artist, to make us a part of her life, to feel like she is our best friend!

TY for this video. "Move into your song." "Let your voice be the vehicle into your audience's heart." Wonderful advice! I agree that singers connecting into their emotions takes their performance to a higher level. I once attended a concert where a top name artist suddenly stopped singing during his performance. The music kept playing, but everyone could see on the jumbo screens that he was choked up. Without any signal, the audience began to sing the song for him as the band continued to play and he regained his composure. I joined in the singing and the emotion of the moment was unforgettable. Towards the end of the song, the artist rejoined the audience and sang the last chorus with such emotion that when the song ended, everyone jumped to their feet yelling, cheering, and screaming. The audience cheered for 5 minutes straight. The rest of the concert was totally amazing and filled with greater connection with the audience. It was one of the best concerts I ever attended. And the artist ended up adding more days to his tour because word spread about that particular show and ticket sales spiked for his later shows. So, yes! You're exactly right. Emotional connection when singing makes the performance exceptional! Thanks for the encouragement, Ms. Cheryl! Also, your voice is beautiful when you sing with emotion. Best wishes to you always!❤🙏💛

when I teach this, I try to teach it on a day that the client isn't happy. Then, I get them to try and sing a happy pop song, because I want their understanding and recognition on how emotional expression and mental state can truly effect a song. Anyone can fake heartache when they're feeling good, but it is difficult VERY difficult to smile and put your "happy" into a song that needs it - and this creates an energy that your audience absorbs. Wrong emotion = uncomfortable "is something wrong?" performance.

Hi! First of all: Thank you so much for this video series! Second: I would really appreciate some advice, if possible. I have been taking singing lessons for some years and have been on stage some times aswell, but I can not for the love of god get over stagefright. I know my singing isn't bad, but I cannot overcome my fear of failing. I am utterly stiff not moving a muscle when singing in front of people and it really bothers me. However, I found when having my eyes closed during singing I can "relax" more, cause I don't have to look at the audiences faces and expressions they do. I feel like I'm singing way better with my eyes closed. But I got told singing with eyes closed disconnects yourself from the audience to much and they might get the feeling they are not "involved" in my song, especially when it comes to making an emotional connection. Do you have any tips or ideas on how to improve that? Is singing with eyes closed "that bad"? Greetings and lots of love from germany! You are amazing!
