That was FIRE! Until now I hadn't seen anyone with the courage to take on the task of trying to emulate Tom Keifer. I wonder why the sigh adds so much grit? I have a question about the technique you used when you sang "Gonna get dirty" - Did you figure out how to make that sound all by yourself through trial and error or did you have some people give you tips on how to bring about that sound? If you did it by trial and error, did you ever get hurt trying to figure out how to produce that type of sound? It's one thing to hear that sound , but to learn how to make that sound is something else. It seems pretty complicated! Could you explain what it feels like when you're making that sound you make on the word "Dirty"? It would help me understand what I'm supposed to be doing to create that particular sound. Thanks!

Thanks! The 'dirty' was by trial and error (as with everything I've ever done with my voice)... I can do a separate video on that because it's a bit complicated and impossible to describe in text 🙄

Hey man, I just subscribed and I've been tearing through some videos! You do know your stuff. I don't see one on Coverdale, though. I've been obsessing over his voice lately. Particularly, I've been puzzling over how he kept it relatively intact for so long, but still lost it eventually. Is it just IMPOSSIBLE to sing that hard past a certain age, or was he using imperfect technique? I mean, his technique was definitely pretty damn good to sing that way as long as he did. Axl blew his voice out in about 10 years!

Axl did not blowout his voice in ten years. G&R recently toured Europe on a 35th anniversary tour, and before that, Axl sang for AC/DC. Axl was able to keep his voice for a long time because he had good technique, as his vocal coach was Ron Anderson. DEspite being pretty much the king of the Hollywood vocal coaches, he said of all his students, Axl Rose was special. Anderson said said: "“I’ve worked with so many people,” smiles Anderson, chatting via Skype video. “But I have to say Axl Rose’s voice is amazing, truly one of a kind. I’ve changed hundreds of singers in terms of tone and technique over the years, though he definitely tops the list. I was there for a lot of the classic Guns N’ Roses years and tours, which was pretty wild!”

@@russellspear6188Well, I'll admit to the possibility of being wrong. It's happened many times. But I'll have to hear the evidence. I've seen YT videos of a few recent performances and all of them had me (and all the YT commenters)feeling bad for the once great voice. Sounded a lot like Mickey Mouse trying to sound like Axl Rose. Not very good. As for his work on AC/DC songs, he'll be able to do that well indefinitely. ALL of Brian Johnson's singing is done in distorted or "reinforced" falsetto. It's hard to lose your falsetto. Axl may have that part of his voice until he dies. It's his mid-range or "normal" voice that he blew out. Or appeared to have on every recording I've heard from him in years. I know of one he did within the last year with the guy from Foo Fighters. Axl sounded the best I'd heard him in a while... And it was B-A-D. Bad. 🤷‍♂️

@@TroubleToby3040 Keep in mind that Axl Rose is 62 years old. He has performed concerts over the last year or two that were over two and a half hours in length. Of course there's going to be some vocal budgeting. Nobody can go all out for that long at his age. Most can't go all out that long at any point in their careers. These people are vocal athletes. Show me an athlete in pro sports who can do at 62 years old or at 52 years old what he once could. Show me any athlete in pro sports at all at 62 years old! Most KZbin commenters aren't washed up has beens; they couldn't be because they never thad the career to begin with. Naturally some of them are going to act like the bitter little termites they are and criticize the strong man for stumbling every now and then. After all, they're envious because he did it and they just wished they could!

@@russellspear6188 😂🤣😂Well, I love Axl, and I will always remember and celebrate him for the amazing singer he used to be so long ago. Rock on Brother!! (P.S. Don't fall into the trap of becoming a snarky a$$hole who berates people in YT comments sections just for disagreeing with you... Imagine how sad that would be... You know, if you resorted to berating people because you disagree with them. Imagine that. You know, if you can. 😉😁)

@@TroubleToby3040 Calling out people for trashing a singer whose music a lot of Gen X grew to know and love, whether it's because he had the gall to age or because he did it and they just wished they could, isn't snarky; it's responsible. Not that the insults directed at the singer carry any real weight, mind you, when they come from someone with so little self-accountability that they hide their last name, lest they actually have to own up for something they wrote. It's the principle of the thing: When I see BS I call it out.
