about laurenz's stomach issues: my mom's constantly dealing with it too & she went to so many specialists and nutritionists and nobody could really find out what was wrong. now she's doing acutpuncture once a week which helps her a lot even though we still haven't find out what exactly the problem is. but she got tested out for allergies and she has a mild allergy against sorbyit (a sweetener often used in bought cakes & sweets). so i would recommend to go check out if he has allergies, it's a super annoying and long proccess cause you can't test them all out at once (and there're a lot) but i think that that definitelly would help you. the doctor also said that a lot of people are having the same problems and that it's becoming way more common now than it ever was. an 'easy' way figure out what's wrong is to eat only rice (and eventually healthy bread) & drink water for a few days and then you add a new food everyday (like dairy, animal products, ...) & see when (bc of the new food) ur getting your issues. Idk if that was even helpful (or if u read it haha) but i hope you're getting better soon

Often when we have acid reflux it’s not due to too much acid in the stomach but actually the opposite. So instead of taking omeprazol it might be an idea to drink a 1/4 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of unpasteurized apple cider vinegar before your meal, especially if it’s a protein heavy one (this is more work for the stomach itself to process), and when you feel the acid in your chest. You could also try a method where you try your stomach acid by doing a bicarbonate of soda test, you can google that, and taking hydrochloric acid tablets before each meal to give your stomach the acid that is missing to help digest the food better. You can read more about this on the internet with a quick google search. For me who was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and had an intolerance test it helped excluding dairy and eggs from my diet. Eating more fiber can also help with stomach discomfort. It might be a good idea to have an intolerance test and try eliminating the food that comes up as sensitive, if there are any. Other than that there are some stomach issues like SIBO and leaky gut that are less tested but still could cause a lot of problems for some people. It might be worth getting some tests for that if nothing else seems to work. Dealing with stress well can also help tremendously. Deep breathing techniques and relaxation methods can help a lot with this. For me stress is the main trigger of heart burn and acid reflux. I hope Laurentz will feel better soon! 🌻

I'm a nutritionist and usually when you have acid reflux it's because you don't have enough hydrochloric acid in your stomach to digest food. Try drinking apple cider vinegar before meals. There is also a test to see if you have enough hcl in your stomach : Mix 1/4 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) in water (about 6 ounces) and drink on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking. ... If you have enough stomach acid, belching should occur within 2 - 3 minutes.

I'm sorry to hear Laurens is having stomach issues! You may have a common stomach infection called H. Pylori, although I assume your doctor would have already tested you for this. Common reflux triggers are coffee, tea, chocolate, soda, greasy fatty food, spicy food and alcohol. Please be aware that Omeprazole, the drug you are taking, can cause vitamin B12 deficiency if taken for a long time. I see patients being prescribed this medication for years and years without ever knowing the side effects. Be careful while travelling and taking acid-suppressing medications, the stomach is the first line of defence against bacteria and parasites. When microbes come in contact with stomach acid it will help kill pathogens before they enter the intestinal tract. Please be extra cautious of the water you drink and food you eat while travelling and taking this med. Additionally, acid-suppressing medication can cause SIBO, a condition that causes bacteria to over grow in the small intestines. SIBO can actually cause more digestive upset. The digestive system can be very sensitive to stress, maybe this is a contributing factor? It is also very possible you have a food sensitivity you are unaware of. Although I do not like acid-suppressing medications they can be very helpful for short periods of time while you find the root cause of why your stomach hurting. I hope you find someone who can help with this! Best wishes!

For any stomach problem, I swear by peppermint tea! I add a bit of cane sugar with it but you could add honey or just drink it plain.
