I seem to remember Chloe or her mother saying that they were thinking that Chloe might study in Austria. I wonder whether they were exploring in particular the idea that Chloe might follow in Ziyu's footsteps, and attend the Mozarteum.

I remember that too. ZiYu spent over a decade studying in Salzburg and the environs. Not only did he receive an excellent musical education, I presume he is now fluent in German and some other languages. At his very young age, he is now in a position to teach others. Think he graduated with a Masters Degree from Mozarteum. Hopefully Chloe and her parents have had an opportunity to hear his insights. 😊

@@graceonaga3094 PS I do not know whether ZiYu would recommend Salzburg unreservedly. As was reported, towards the end of his stay he was attacked in the street by thugs, who put him in fear of his life. Hopefully it was a rare and completely isolated incident.

Agree with you and seem to vaguely remember that very unfortunate incident, except those things are happening across the world. What ZiYu, especially, and Chloe have in common are followings in China and a potential for inspiring many young people there to pursue a musical career or just to embrace classical music. It was astounding to listen to a Chinese music critic critique Chloe's performance of Poeme, treating her like a professional musician and discussing the need to understand the sensibilities of French culture in Chausson's time. What I am sure Chloe and her parents have explored are evaluating the differences between the European vs. American conservatory models as well as which teachers and what lifestyle would be best. She should be able to continue performing to some degree through her uni days (and I think her fans really want this). @@jackburgess8579

The one thing I LOVE about Chloe, apart from her IMMENSE TALENT, is the fact that she has NOT allowed all of the attention she receives go to her head ONE IOTA!!!!!! She remains the LOVELY person she ALWAYS has been!!!!!!! How she found the time to fit in all the practice she has to do, PLUS the time to study for all of her exams IS TRULY REMARKABLE!!!!!!! Furthermore, it would NOT surprise me IN THE SLIGHTEST if she got straight A's as well!!!!!!!!! NO wonder the Asians ARE RIGHTLY famed for their EXCEPTIONALLY HARD WORK ethic!!!!!!!!!!!! Eddy and Brett are another PERFECT example where that's concerned!!!!!!!! They did. The cadenza of the first movement is achingly beautiful. The second movement is ravishing. The whole performance can be accessed via subscription at less at about 1.5 USD/month to @singaporesymphony

Both her musical understanding and her emotional and spiritual sensibilities are very profound, hugely rewarding, and extremely rare. E.g. her performance of the second movement Adagio in Bruch #1 is one of the most magnificent expressions of pure and selfless love out there. I agree that she performs with great joy. "SGD" is the Singapore dollar. Since it has slightly less value than the US dollar, the SGD 2 cost of one-month membership/access to the performances I mentioned is less than the price of a coffee. Never would SGD 2 be better spent ... !

Chloe is sublimely talented but I suspect that right now she's somewhat deferential to Paavo. In 20 years she will command the question when engaged to concert "What tempi " or "How rubato do you like this transition" etc.

You have no idea as to how the nuances of this performance - and in particular the tempo - was arrived at. It is very common for violinists to peak at a an early age. Let us hope that Chloe continues to improve technically and that there is no deterioration in either her musicality or her spirit. (Since she is already without peer in both respects, improvement in either would be too much to ask.) Who is Paavo?

Chloe does not play the viola and is in no position to teach it. Here, Ziyu's performance of the viola part is excellent and complements Chloe's performance perfectly.
