The US has become so arrogant (I’m a New Yorker) so we don’t pay attention to anything outside the western world, let alone the music that the US and Britain puts out. We have missed so much that it’s very sad. KZbin helps but we need to expand our horizons on our own. Dimash has done that for me for more than just music. I have begun to watch films from that part of the world and some of my favorite series are from China and Korea now. It’s amazing how one man can single handedly bring people together with not only his voice but his open view of the world.

For this lady and anyone else who doesn't already know, although "SOS" originated in a French-Canadian rock opera, "Starmania," in the 1970's, Dimash first discovered it when Gregory Lemarchal, a contestant on a French talent show, performed it emotionally several times just before dying at the age of 23 awaiting a lung transplant in the hospital. Gregory had Cystic Fibrosis and had to sing, dance and act on that talent show with just 25 percent of his lung capacity. Nevertheless, he won that season's show and Dimash was inspired enough to grab the song with its emotional lyrics and make it his own. Later on, Dimash's best friend, Kazakh Olympic figure skater, Denis Ten, was murdered at the age of 25 attempting to keep hoodlums from stealing items off of his car. Dimash has sung the song in tribute to Denis as well. The deaths of two others who were close to Dimash----his long-time teacher, who died of Covid, and his grandfather who died last year, have added to the meaning of "Why do I live, why do I die," and result in Dimash singing it so passionately each and every time. Incidentally, the original performer of "SOS", Daniel Belavoine, died in a helicopter accident in his mid 30's. So much tragedy associated with such a beautiful song.

This song is a pearl of the French songbook: It is a French-Canadian cyberpunk-rock opera called “Starmania”, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Gregory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the afflicted character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then to falsetto, the author sought to show a broad need to overcome a moment of despair and the pretense of accepting to reach a higher perspective! Dimash, currently at his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who have departed this world! Original version - Daniel Belavoine - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5y9pneeqrmerqc

Thank you for introducing Dimash to Jackie and Happy Birthday, Jackie🥰. I saw a recommendation of Daybreak in the comments. I also recommend Daybreak but please 🙏🙏🙏🙏 react to the version from The Singer competition first. I highly recommend you to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel and then the one from his Bastau concert. It was the 8th performance of this competition. I don’t think there are copyright issues, because the videos on this channel are already edited. I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen The Singer version before. In my opinion it loses at bit of its impression, if you don’t know why he sings, the way he sings. This song tells a very sad but true story. You REALLY have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about. In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Maybe you can do both together. Many reactors do and so you can see the difference between this two performances. Gloria Wu: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4mqd2qsnKqMgc0 Bastau version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy9hX2ggdR3bJY Please first The Singer then the Bastau version🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. Or both together😉 By the way he composed The Story Of One Sky for 3 years. They shot the video I think in a couple of days. He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

Unfortunately there is people that is crazily obsessed with vocal range and high notes that suggest Dimash in the wrong way just with songs with large vocal range and incredible hig notes..And for the fault of these people who don't know Dimash think wrongly that Dimash is just a vocal acrobatic and that he sings only songs with vocal range and high notes..And this is a shame and is totally wrong because the majority of the songs in his repertoire are without large vocal range and incredible hig notes..There are many beautiful songs also in his native language that is kazakh that deserve total attention but that are too underrated because these people don't support Dimash and his work in the right and best way..The Boss King Angel And The Living Legend Dimash

Thanks for this great reaction! Dimash is not well known in Western Europe it`s the same like in the US. The reason is, that he is an independant artist. He still manages to play in big halls with around 10.000 people and sometimes even in stadiums with 30.000 or 40.000 people like in Istanbul Turkey on May 24th. I stumbled about him watching reactions to Queen on you tube. Otherwise I would not know him too.

Dimash simply refuses to sign a record contract to keep his art independent. Thus no promotion from the labels or radio. MTV had a weekly online show featuring foreign artists and IIRC two or three of his songs won him the most votes of every show for a year. Scott should also read the wiki.

Happy Birthday Jackie! Yes, he has been under professional training since 5 years old, mostly classical at first. But his parents are also both singers, mom classical and dad pop. This song was in French, which he sings phonetically since he "only" speaks Kazakh, Russian, English and a little Mandarin. Maybe one of the Turkic languages related to Kazakh. Sings in about 16 languages so far. Learned a modern-ish Mandarin folk song in a week and made the Chinese audience cry. Always knows "thank you" in the local language. From Kazakhstan, the northern-most and largest -stan up above Pakistan and the other -stans, jammed up between Russia and China and not quite touching Mongolia. 2 or 3 music degrees now.

Yes, it will be important to read up more about Dimash, but more importantly, pick up on his country, it's history, what it has gone through. All of that will, hopefully, bring you to understand where this music video Uncle Scott is referring to, comes from, as well as the direct connection with wars raging in our world. You will then also understand why Dimash is a peacemaker on a grandeur scale, wanting to see people across the globe unified. This is why, I believe, he entitled music video "The Story of One Sky". Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than twelve(12) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S.
