Great reaction, Barry. Yes, you didn't need to understand the language it was sang in, yet you FEEL the emotion, the cry, the panic and even the begging transmitted by Dimash. As others had mentioned, the song has a tragic back story. It was a cable car accident that this young couple made the ultimate sacrifice to lift their 2 year-old son up high as they fall into the gorge to save his life. The song composer Han Hong, she learned of the tragic circumstance of the little boy, so she adopted him to raise as her own. This song was written from the boy's point of view. Dimash was sick prior to this performance. He had to get throat injections, and fellow contestants who also became his friends all tried to help him by giving him Chinese herbal medicine. The doctor told him if he sing another high note, he may never sing again. Dimash was never one to disappoint, so he sang even in pain. When the camera was aiming at the other contestants, you could tell they were all bracing with Dimash almost cringing with his pain. There was so much more than just his performance. Dimash was a trooper. Only love and respect for Dimash.

Пересматриваю реакции уже с субтитрами! Что хотелось бы сказать... Насчет китайской публики... они большие молодцы... уже с первого исполнения песни SOS они полюбили его... Ведь он был первым иностранным исполнителем на их сугубо " семейном" конкурсе... Интерес к этому конкурсу стал падать и они решили его разнообразить и пригласили Димаша...Как говорится - и лучше сделать не могли, так как интерес к конкурсу взлетел до небес...на каждом туре Димаша уже ждали..!. Вы видели, как они его приветствуют... А в этом видео еще и интрига, ведь все знали, что у него болело горло и он накануне не мого говорить... поэтому еще такая реакция. Мне очень нравится публика, она мгновенно откликается эмоционально... Я смотрела весь этот конкурс, там очень сильные певцы. Так что вы можете расширить свои познания в музыкальной картине мира... Эта песня - Рассвет, очень сильная и Димаш передал ее значение великолепно... Но еще надо обязательно услышать ее исполнение на концерте "Бастау"...Там он уже мог петь в полный голос и исполнение очень отличается! Ждем продолжения ....!

Like this one which is based on a true story of a boy whose mum and dad paid the ultimate sacrifice in order to save him. Dimash was ill when he performed this song. They had to take him to the hospital and get throat injections because he had lost his voice. He was in a lot of pain and you could see it in his face as he was waiting to sing. The other contestants knew that he was ill, and that is the reason for the expressions on their faces...of amazement that he still sang.

Strategically, it would be a good one to review as PTX fans will be looking for reactions, however, it is a very "poppy-type" song and I am not sure your Dimash viewers would like it as much (so is Daft Funk actually. Some of the looks on the other contestants were because they knew what he was dealing with, not having a voice in the morning and having to get shots in his throat. Thank you so much for reposting with the correct video!! I could barely watch the other one because I knew the sound had been altered and it just didn't sound like him. But everything you said was true about how you don't need the lyrics to know the emotion he is singing about. Music in the hands of a master truely is a universal languange. Dimash is such a master. There are numerous videos of his that i first saw without having access to the lyrics. I fell in love with his performances anyway. Of course knowing the lyrics and the backstory (especially this song but also the songs Daididou and Samaltou) really enrich the song. What I've found is while I don't need to know to the lyrics, almost all of them have really profound beautiful lyrics that are worth seeing at least once. I confess I don't watch his videos with subtitles once I know what he is basically singing about. I don't have time for them. I'm too busy watching his performance and listening to his voice. Just a few more comments.... I think the outfit he wore is less reminiscent of military and more a school boy uniform. I think it's meant to make him look young as the song is told through the eyes of a young boy. The beautiful lighting, the instrumentation , the fantastic audience are some of the really great qualities of the Singer contest. It's top notch for sure!! No other singing show has such quality. Dimash and his team always arrange songs best to convey the emotion, show off his voice, and give a great climax. It's something I notice over and over again. And you are 100% correct. Dimash uses every technique he can to sing this emotionally. The vocal cries, the crying tonality of his voice, the high operatic notes that sound like crying or screaming in a beautiful way. The tender way he says mama...The panic way he says mama and papa as the song builds. He's in the biggest tragety of his life. Then back down to a nearly weeping tone, back up to crying in desperation, and then back to quiet weeping. So beautiful. So relatable. So heart wrenching. Dimash is one of a kind fantastic performer! And his vocals are otherworldly! Luv luv luv him. Thank you Barry for your reactions to Dimash. I enjoy every single one of them!!

Hi Barry, thanks for reacting to this beautiful song. Dimash made a very big effort to be able to sing that day, because he was sick and his throat was totally closed. He went to the doctor and was barred from singing, but "the show must go on" and he did his best under those circumstances. Great reaction!! Thank you!! 🥰 No, you don't need a translation when Dimash sings, he embodies the emotions!! Mind you a translation can really add to the effect the song has on you... I've found that many of the songs we hear Dimash sing in English don't have particularly sophisticated or meaningful lyrics (except for Stranger). They're like your average every day stuff that everybody writes about. Many of the foreign language songs he sings are complex and have deeper meaning, particularly the Chinese ones which often delicately allude to things most Chinese people understand, taken from thousands of years of Chinese culture. The words used are utterly beautiful too. (For example the Drunken Concubine. The lyrics have many references to ancient poetry, symbolism, literature and history that most people reading the English translation simply won't understand.) His Kazakh songs are beautiful too, in a different way. Even the Russian song Opera 2 has wonderful lyrics. I think some songwriters writing in English need to pull their fingers out and try a lot harder!
