I love watching people react to Dreamcatcher when all they know is they’re a K-pop girl group because their preconceptions are guaranteed to be utterly obliterated. Dreamcatcher are the hidden pioneers of this oversaturated industry. Going anti-mainstream may have been a survival tactic to stand out from the pack, but I’m glad they did it.

Dreamcatcher is not your average K-pop group for sure!!! Literally the pioneers of rock/metal sound in K-pop and the *only* group to incorporate those influences consistently since debut. Not only are they totally unique, but they’re one of the longest surviving active groups currently in the industry-7 years strong and just renewed their contracts, so there’s lots to catch up on and hopefully lots more to come! I know other people have already covered the lowdown on their history and discography, so I’ll just say this: They’re amazing, and I hope you react to more of them :) The fandom, Insomnia, is absolutely wonderful and will give you all the support

Welcome to the Dreamworld, Alex. Deja Vu was actually an OST for a mobile game called King's Raid. The MV loosely follows the events of the game. TMI: Deja Vu was released in the EP Raid of Dream in 2019, and also has some of the best Dreamcatcher songs, Silent Night and The Curse of the Spider. Dreamcatcher have amazing MVs and a huge catalogue of music, with 3 albums, 11 EPs, 4 singles and 22 digital singles, in Korean, Japanese and English, with music ranging from Pop-Rock and J-Metal, to R&B, Jazz and EDM. Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu. Check out the Apocalypse trilogy: Maison, Vision and Bon Voyage!

I'll look forward to it! I saw someone else recommended (basically their whole discography lol) Don't Light My Fire and it's definitely one I would recommend as well. The instrumentals and vocals both feel like they have a more rock "style" if that makes sense compared to their typical sound. Not sure how to explain well. Shout out to "No More" as well for having Pontus Norgren from Hammer fall on guitar. Also, as you can see Insomnia are VERY excited anytime someone checks out the group and likes them. The rock ballad that is either ballad OR rock. Deja Vu has always been in the top most popular of their songs since its release and Holding This Pain has taken on a life of its own outside the song. With som time have you noticed how they start in a minor key, change to major, and then change to a different major that is relative to the minor and circle back around? Deja vuuuuuuu... They bring real vocals to rock/metal fusions with other genres and its always amazing. You might really like Piri (an underrated song these days) from both a musical and rocking out perspective. Not totally true, there is a group called Rolling Quartz and they are full on Rock, they are fantastic and have done some covers of Dreamcatcher's songs, if you haven't checked them out yet you definitely should. But yeah other than that Dreamcatcher is one of the only Rock/Metal groups and they kill it every time, even their Non-Rock songs are PHENOMENAL!

Thanks for the reaction!! Honestly all of the song choices recommended to you are definitely worth checking out. I’ll throw some outliers in the mix. “Shatter” one of their newest songs. Most don’t recommend it because it’s very experimental for DC. It has a beautiful melody and a very noisy? Chorus. Not sure how to describe it. But it’s really good. Recommend the dance version. “Propose” a song about toxic and obsessive relationships. The girls are so seductive in this one. “Wind blows” this one is nice with an exciting chorus. “Can’t get you out of mind” if you like EDM. It’s also their first full English song. Not sure what your genre of choice is. They have something for every genre 👍 All of the songs I’ve recommended are b-sides so their messages are for that song alone. But most of DCs songs are parts of storylines. Trilogies and such. Only a few are stand alones. So if you check on the rest of the title tracks I recommend watching them in order if you want to understand the message.

Thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher! As others have said, they're a really unique group in K-Pop as they always incorporate rock and metal influences in their title tracks, but they always tackle a different sub-genre or incorporate it in a different way for each song. Their b-sides though, are always a surprise because they span dozens of genres and sub-genres including EDM, Trap, Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Rock, Ballads, Funk, Metal, and much more. Every new Dreamcatcher album is always a treat because you never know what new style of music they're going to tackle or how they're going to mix and match things. Deja Vu was a collaboration with the mobile game Kings Raid. They later did another collaboration with Kings Raid when they released an opening for the second season of the Kings Raid anime called Eclipse. Since you really seemed to like them, I'd recommend just starting at the beginning of their discography with their debut song, Chase Me. This song is the beginning of their nightmare series of songs. The song was released on Jan. 13, 2017, which was a Friday the 13th, and has visual influences from classic horror cinema.

Dreamcatcher are awesome and love their music. One song you might be interested in is one which is sung by Siyeon and Dami called Shadow it is an OST. It is one of my favourite songs. Just be aware there is two versions of this song a Normal version and a slow version personally i like the slow version. @@AlexSinclairMusic I will second d the babymetal request. They are an awesome metal group in Japan with them creating a whole new genre called kawaii (cute) metal. Also Dreamcatcher are huge fans of babymetal so it’s not a far jump to check them out. I also second the live performances because babymetal thrive in their live shows. I prefer “Papaya” and their newest collaboration with the same rapper in papaya called “leave it all behind”
