Henk has performed Erik several hundred times as THE Dutch Phantom. This whole series is fantastic and it is best to watch each episode in turn . All the artists are excellent but wow watch Floor BLOW them away and go from unknown to best Dutch singer ever. Her popularity is now through the roof with solo shows selling out she is now a national treasure .

My country is not big on Metal unfortunately, it has a stigma.. :( I wish they promoted it more, like with metal cafes and festivals etc. We don't know what gems we have! Don't know if someone else mentioned this, but this was filmed outside in tents on Ibiza during a thunderstorm. The thunder at the beginning was real, and you can see in several takes the water from the storm leaking down almost on top of them. True professionals. Floor did have a hard time in spots staying in character because she was so happy to be singing this with Henk. Also, Henk told her that he would agree to do it with her if he could do it with her and Nightwish when they did a show in the Netherlands, and she immediately agreed.

Fun fact...that thunderclap that started the song was REAL, the skies had opened up right before they performed, and this is an outdoors venue under tents...you can see water dripping down from the canvas roof just to the side of Floor a couple of times if you look close. The thunderclap was Odin (or Thor, perhaps?) roaring his approval of what was coming...at least that's how I like to think about it...lol.

The concept of the show is just that singers from different genres come together and each of them have a show dedicated to them in which the other singers chose to sing something from that persons repertoire or a song that means a lot to them. There's no judging, it's just about celebrating music and getting people to sing covers of another artist often putting their personal twist on it.

Sabina great that you respond to our Dutch gems. In the same season she was the first to sing the song Vilja, really Floor immediately made a big mark. In the Netherlands Floor was not very well known but with this program the best singers left a very big impression for the Dutch. Wasn't that amazing? Floor was inspired by Henk when she was a youngster (he was an ALW favourite for the part of the Phantom), that's real fangirling you could see :) The Beste Zangers show is super too, well worth watching the whole show (for the info and comments between each song) and 2019 series! Several Dutch singers from different genres are invited for a holiday in Ibiza, they get to know each other with picnics and walks on the beach during the day. They will be practicing a relevant song for each days centre of attention. The duets I think was the last of the series. It's not a competition, but they really inspire each other, and have a lot of fun. The crash of thunder at the beginning wasn’t a sound effect, they were in the middle of a storm, with water leaking through the roof, you can see it dripping to the left of Floor on the close-ups, and in the pool behind. The crew must have been a bit alarmed, but they kept going. I like to think of being on those sofas with the other singers, what a lovely idea and so intimate, being just a few feet away from the performers.

There are 7 participants in the show. Every week, one artist watches their own songs be performed by the other singers or a random song that has had a special meaning to the sitting artist. Then the artist grades the singers in emotion and performance and picks a winner at the end of the episode. Then the following week, a different singer takes the seat and does it all again. Phantom of the Opera was the grand finale in the show's last episode of the season, December 2019. The gentleman is Henk Poort. He is very popular in the Netherlands, played the part of the Phantom in the Dutch version of the musical from 1993-1996, was Floor's inspiration for singing opera as well as is her idol and great friend. Floor was a huge fan of his in her teen years. The 2 singers were actually role playing or doing their best to perform the musical. Next for this show, I recommend "Shallow". On this episode, the blonde with the red dress takes her turn to heat the others sing to her. She didn't write the song, but sang a version of it herself. That's why Floor is singing it to her. Hank Poort is the original Dutch phantom. He originally played the role and Floor is very respectful. Floor had a holiday with him and singing with him. But if you want to hear a miracle, listen to it from this series (Beste Zenger) when Floor sings Vilja lied. A real phenomenal Flooooorgasm !!!! You are not alone my fellow Dutchie! I feel the same way, almost ashamed.. I had no idea about the sub genre Symphonic metal untill a friend of mine introduced me to Within Temptation in high school (which was many years ago by now XD). I became a big fan but never yet looked into other Symphonic metal bands. I mean, I had heard of Nightwish and listened to some of their songs through the years but never 'truely dove deeper into the band'. Not because I did not want to but it did not cross my mind. Untill last November. I stumbled upon Ghost Love Score on youtube and I immediately fell in love with Floors vocals and the bands music.. Ever since then I play at least some Nightwish every, single, day, up till now and are eagerly waiting for the online event next month and my very first live concert of Floor in September and Nightwish in November :D I am a 30 year old woman now but we both for sure can say, better late than never! :D Let's enjoy and be grateful we live in the same era as Nightwish and many other Symphonic metal bands!

What can you say about Floor --- She can do anything she wants and her performances are at the highest level every time. Another song from this season of Beste Zangers that Floor performs is "Shallow" and again she is stunning. If memory serves, I believe Henk is an Opera and Musical Theater singer from Denmark. I almost fell out of my chair when he used a rock voice with wonderful grit.

Beste Zangers is literally translated as Best Singers and that leads people to believe it might be competition but you can also translate it from Dutch as being Dear Singers ... like in the way you start a letter with Dear Sir / Dear Madam. Oh, and you said you wanted them on a big stage well the result of this tv show was that there was huge demand for Floor to do some solo shows (using the same band as you see here on this show) and she was able to do a few right before the whole corona lockdown in early 2020. She invited Henk to join her on that tour to do this every night. There is still a big arena solo Floor show scheduled but that one keeps getting postponed and is now scheduled for Autumn 2021. Also, Henk agreed to do this song with Floor on this tv show with only one condition that he can do this song together with Nightwish and Floor the next time they will do a gig in the Netherlands.

the girl in the red dress on the couch that gives Floor the devil horns during the performance did a stunning rendition of Floor's song Strong for her on the show Emma Heesters is her name she got fame on you tube performances and covers. everyone on the couch has a day when the others sing either one of their songs or a song they love to honor each other it's an amazing show in 2016 the 2015 Voice of Holland winners Og3ne were also on Beste Zangers and did amazing covers of Emile Sandes' "Clown" and Ed Sheerans' "Sing" the harmonies on those girls are beyond belief they also during lock down for covid did a bunch of Home Isolation videos using their phones all in separate places they would perform the song and piece them together without hearing each other so amazing. They got a ton of recognition when they covered Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody when Queen shared it on their official Instagram also the did a few impressive Medleys (Heartbreak Medley (90's women bands) Earth Wind and Fire Medley , Bee Gees Medley, Three Degrees Medley, and my favorite Disney Medley. along with a few home isolation videos of their own stuff Kinda Wanna, The End, Straight To You and Get Me Back sorry to ramble they are so amazing all the Netherland singers seem to be must be something in the water. ]:) ]:P

To see how Floor is more amazing than you think, and can sing in a way you don't see yet, you may take a loot at Nightwish's song, "Stargazers", Official Live with her. It's an old song, that's been out of Nightwish's setlist for mor than a decade, and they put it back in a 2016 DVD live recording. She sings it just like Tarja, and in a different way that you are used to. And more amazing (if that's even possible).

Awwww, Your expressions were so great and genuine. Myself and other members of the Nightwish Army told you that there was a lot to explore...You are starting to get the idea how many directions this can go. Bester Zangers (Best Singers) is a Dutch television series where they invite a group of primarily Dutch singers each season to perform for each other and usually each others songs. Everyone sitting on the couches and chairs were other performers soaking it up. In this case Henk plays the Dutch Phantom in the musical and they were performing the Nightwish upbeat version of the song. There is no competition between any of them that I am aware of.. Check out her other performances on this show. She sings in multiplenguages as well. Great job as always Sabina.

Henk Poort is awesome! Check his version of "Sound of Silence" and his "Vivo per Lei" duet with Emma Heesters. Truly magical! The concept of "Beste Zangers" is that famous singers sing the other artist's songs for each other. There is no competitive element here, just purely sharing wonderful music with each other and surprising each other and having a good time.

I got one thing to say, because I'm a chess nerd: Queen to D6. Checkmate. 😂😂😂 Two things: 1) This took place during a thunderstorm -- and yes, the sound of thunder in the beginning is real. 2) Henk Poort, the male singer, is an opera singer, as many have said -- so it is a no-no to put distortion in his voice. He took 2 hours to properly learn how to do that, before this performance.

Great reaction, Sabina! You really understood the performance. Along with the others, I highly recommend you watch the rest of Beste Zangers 2019. Look up the videos provided with English subtitles by You Tuber @jenniezelf, and watch the conversations that occur before and after the performance. It helps so much to get to know the performers. I also suggest you not just focus on Floor's performances. All of these people are world class singers.

Floor is dutch but unknown untill now in the netherlands. Metal music is a music genre you never hear in the dutch charts.( maybe some exeptions). from here she became more famous. weird hey? greets from the netherlands.
