Ok 1. He's a reactor, not audience. It's his JOB to comment, if you don't like it, don't watch. 2. It's called copyright violation. Granted they don't police these older videos like they do for like pentatonix. But STILL the music is copyright protected, which means reactors have to pause frequently. Welcome to YT since clearly you don't know how it works. And last, I don't think he gives a rats ass what you think.

Great, also completely accurate and heartfelt reaction to this absolutely amazing song. Paul Carrick is the singer of this song, formerly a singer with British band Squeeze (another great band btw!) the song was written by the guitarist in the video Mike Rutherford, formerly of Genesis (Phil Collins drummer and singer) amazing lyrics, beautifully sang by Paul. Those who are dissing this heartfelt reaction....check yourself or get on YT or STFU!

To keep the family theme of the song going, the young boy featured with the dog was Sam, Mike Rutherfords' eight-year-old son.

It's crazy because I've watched probably a hundred different people react to this song. Rarely does anybody mention how great a voice he has. It's all about the lyrics. You have a well written song when nobody mentions the singer's voice even when he kills it.. You're one of the few people that even mentioned his voice. Could easily be the best lyrics I've ever heard .

Beautiful song ❤🎉 The lyrics are amazing, and Mike's voice is so good in this. Your music is wonderful, Brad. ❤ Have a listen to John Farnhams' Age of Reason - it's also an inspirational song and refers to generational issues. My favourite line is, "Is kindness an ancient skill buried by our blindness?" kzbin.info/www/bejne/oajFpoV-nJ5sd68si=NJbu5qOj8xk7uWeB Hope you like it. Cheers Debb 😊

That’s not Mike Rutherford singing - it’s Paul Carrack. Mike is the guitarist and was formerly the guitarist for Genesis. Paul also had a hit on his own titled “Tempted By The Fruit Of Another” as well as other songs with other groups.

I can't listen to ' The Living Years" without shedding a tear. I'm eighty one now and can look back a long way and yes, it's too late for me now to say sorry or acknowledge something I may have said that hurt someone's feeling because sadly, those I may have offended due to immaturity or naivete on my part, are no longer with us. My sons however, will benefit from my honesty. Love your music by the way. 😉👍

It should be required that everyone listen to this song once a week until it really sinks in. The lyrics in this song are incredibly good and impossible to miss the meaning. The line "I think I caught his spirit later that same year. I'm sure I heard his echo in my baby's new born tears" makes me tear up every time I hear it That is a really nice, thought provoking song that you wrote too. Very appropriate to add to the end of this!

When Phil Collins left Genesis, everyone thought the band was dead. To prove them wrong, Mike came out with this band. The lead singer is Paul Carrack.

Long post, you can skip. I listened to this song, with my daddy, years ago. He died in ‘94. I don’t remember if it was the same day, anyway, i lived out of state, and came to visit. I had a cooler of beer, and so did he. He had just bought an RV, and we took her for a spin. Dirt roads, climbing the mountains. Just putting along, and pulling over at every creek or lake. Walking in the woods. Just drinking a beer and goofing off. We finally went back home, when we ran out of beer. Then sitting in the lawn chairs, under the shade tree. Passing a mason jar of rye whiskey back and forth. Fed the fish and the cows, and everyone got pets. By then, we were drunk as hell, and the talk turned serious. We had been discussing how long it would take a GOOD man on a GOOD horse to ride to the top of the next ridge. We went back to the RV, because thats where he kept his homemade wine. Sitting at the camper table, he told me why he had made the choices he made. My daddy was dignified, and respected. I told him a lot of things he probably didn’t want to hear. Being drunk as skunks helped, and we cried together, about a lot of things. He died a few years later, and this song is a blessing to me.

This song gets you thinking or reminiscing. If your folks are still here, it isn’t too late to tell them you love them. You don’t have to surrender anything, just your love❣️Brad, another older group worth giving a listen to is Bread and my favorite song of theirs is Everything I Own. Enjoyed this one very much.

Please go down the Paul Carrack rabbit hole, he has so many beautiful songs; as a member of Mike + Mechanics, but also solo. Check out Another Cup of Coffee, When You Walk In The Room, Don't Shed a Tear, How Long, I Need You, Silent Running, .... too many to choose from really. He has a fabulous voice, saw him live at the Royal Albert Hall in London last year with a symphonic orchestra and a choir of 150 people. Had chills all night long.

Love Mike and The Mechanics! One of my favourite bands! This was written by Mike Rutherford (guy in video playing guitar and guy with little boy in cemetery) and Brian Robertson( think i've remembered that correctly, sorry if not) who wrote a few songs for Mike in his other band - Genesis. Hope you check out more from MATM - maybe something a bit more recent? The album from 2016 (ish lol) Let Me Fly is fab! Paul Carrick is brilliant - then with Mike and Roachford - BOOM!!!!! Yep, message from this song - If there's something you want to say, good or bad, say it because tomorrow isn't a given. In some ways we're the same, in some ways different, but accept it and embrace it!
