All too well is magnitudes more savage than Dear John in my opinion. It's its subtlety that makes it so savage... "Dear John" is a sledgehammer whilst "All too Well" is more like a scalpel.... Both are brilliant songs though..

I can't get over the fact that this video is exactly how we pictured for almost a decade. It's a testament to her masterful songwriting. But the whole point of this short film can be found in the last scene. She's been saying for years that the fans changed her perspective of this song. And there we have it. She's in an event (album release sessions) talking about her book (album) surrounded by a captivated crowd (swifties). Meanwhile the person is looking in from a distance (a perfect representation of the love affair becoming a distant memory) Then he leaves (kind of like an i-forgot-you-existed moment 😁) So yeah..let's celebrate this path to owning her masters and have a marvelous time. I'm so proud of her.

Great video! One of the things I’m really enjoying about these reactions is seeing people who don’t know anything about her music and don’t have 10 years of baggage with this song respond the same way all the rest of us did the first time we heard it. You paused it sometimes at the newly added lyrics, but you also sometimes paused it on the same lyrics that have been kicking our butt since 2012. I just think that’s really cool that the song continues to speak to people.

I think all her songs on the Red album were about Jake. For example, the song "22" is all about the joy of being 22. Most people would have probably picked the age of 21 to write a song about because it is true adulthood. But Taylor picked 22, probably because her 21st birthday -- when he didn't show up and didn't even call -- was one of the most traumatic experiences of her life.
