Hi! The Confidence 7640 comes with an open toe foot, which can be used for the zigzag. The all purpose foot that comes with it, can also be used for a zigzag. There are option feet, including the overcast foot, that are available for your machine. You have a low shank snap on. Thank you! -TB

Hi! It does not do embroidery, but for the other two questions: yes, you may want to add a couple of accessory feet for quilting. A dual feed walking foot for quilting thru the sandwiched layers. I free motion darning foot, if you wish to do free motion work. Depending on the leather you may want to use a leather needle. would not buy again - I had my eye on this machine for several months (I have had it about 5 years now) so it was not an "impulse" buy - the machine in and of itself is not noteworthy as a machine goes but there are two PROBLEMS that had I known when I bought the machine I would have made a different choice ---- 1. no reverse unless you are already going forward - now I hope I can explain this but if you want to reverse you have to be sewing forward so you cannot sew in reverse at the beginning - you must be stitching a few stiches forward and while stitching forward press the reverse - didn't know how many times I used this feature until I found out that this machine doesn't have it ---- 2. no way to adjust the presser foot pressure - so if you are sewing something very thin or if you are sewing something very thick the presser foot uses the same amount of pressure on the fabric meaning puckers if it is thin
