It was the Alberta PCs, under premier Ralph Klein, who failed to properly come after oil companies in Alberta to remediate their messes, leaving Albertans with a mammoth bill of $260 billion to deal with this. The UCP have compounded this problem by doing the $20 billion R-Star debacle. The UCP also didn't use the federal government money given to them to address this issue, and they had to return the money. In addition, the First Nations are suing the UCP and the AER for their negligence with the tailings pond leaks in northern Alberta.

The first ever carbon tax in Canada, came here in Alberta, under premier Ed Stelmach, in 2007. Ed Stelmach was a supporter of the CPC, and he is a good friend of Stephen Harper, who praised Ed Stelmach for his carbon tax. Stephen Harper also said that there has to be a price put on carbon, at around $65 per ton. Former CPC leaders, Andrew Scheer and Erin O'Toole, also said that they support the carbon tax, but they won't call it that. Preston Manning, who was behind Danielle Smith and a bunch of her Wildrose MLAs crossing the floor to join Jim Prentice's Alberta PC party, is also a longtime supporter of the carbon tax. The oil companies in Alberta have said that they supported the carbon tax for many years, way before Justin Trudeau was in power. The UCP also didn't get rid of Alberta's carbon tax, like they said they would, but they increased it exponentially, to outdo the federal Liberals, with their own carbon tax. In Canada, the carbon tax is a Conservative idea to begin with.

Tax is 30% income tax. Property tax around 4000. 6% on 80k fuel liqueur and other tax puts it very close to 40% more if you have sales tax. I'd be happier abought the tax rate if service wasn't so bad and so much waisted money. Total incompetence at best. Kline era cuts were too much but waist needs to stop. It will take generations to pay off waist. At the rate they are going 60% of tax will be going to bank for interest in a few years it already 40%.

Jagmeet was the only one here showing a tendency toward violence. Wagging your finger directly in someones' face and calling them a coward is assault. The fact that you and your pundits are sitting behind your desks and condoning Singh's behavior is contemptable. Singh is the coward for physically threatening a protestor with two bodyguards backing him up, for what was a pretty mild comment, which almost certainly was not made by either of the two people he accosted.
@mikearchibald744Ай бұрын
A finger wave and calling coward is not assault. These clowns have been doing this for two years now and screaming like lunatics not just at politicians but regular canadians. What goes around comes around. Pollievre is ruder than that to journalists on a regular basis. Shouting obscenities at politicians has never been considered acceptable. Once you cross that line, you certainly have no grounds for public sympathy.
