''Singin' The Blues'' ......... Don Lewers Banjo.

Bix Beiderbecke, Frank Trumbauer, and Eddie Lang recorded "Singin' the Blues" back in 1927, and it became a jazz milestone and a jazz standard which was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1977.
Both Bix, and Frankie, played their famous, wonderful improvised solos on this recording, and I got to thinkin,' how would they sound on banjo?, well we're about to find out, come on, lets go! ......

Don, thats pretty damn incredible you could play those solos so uncannily acuurately and nail everything so perfectly in one long take. I doff the myrhical chapeau, my friend, I am probably one of the few people crazy enough about both banjo and Bix and his gang to appreciate an amazing achievment. Congratulaions and I hope you will be continuing to do more Bix stuff… “My Pretty Girl” and “Thou Swell” and “Clementine from New Orleans” are a few of my personal faves… Will

Excellent rendition Donny. A beautiful melody played with a musicality that most plectrum banjo players, including me, tend to shy away from because we are so entrenched in our chord melody technique. I agree wholeheartedly with Bob Craven's comments. As you said to me, that Vegavox has a very nice sound. By the way I didn't know you were a closet left hander !!!!!

very impressed by your musicality -- this is exactly the kind of melodic, single note solos that plectrum banjo players including me are often not good at. A good reminder to return to scales--as an alternative to the chord melody method
