Your voice is a muscle and if you're serious about wanting to learn to sing well then you need to strengthen that muscle. I can speak from experience, as someone who couldn't belt, twang, sing more than an octave and a bit and had massive pitching issues to someone who has been singing professionally for the last 15 years. I did at least 15 minutes exercising a day as well as singing through lots of material and within six months my voice made an incredible change. You can too.

I'm 62 and have not been singing much for the past couple of decades. I have lost about 6-notes in my lower range and want it back. I also have zero vocal fry. I've been doing the exercises in this video for 4 days. No vocal fry yet, but I've have a couple lower notes back. You give me hope. And Mark, I love the way you engage with the camera.; nice smile. Thank you both.

I had a throat surgery a couple years ago that knocked out my upper range and left my voice extremely tired. I’ve had to relearn how to speak/sing so that I won’t do damage to myself. These exercises are extremely helpful! Thank you!

I was a vocal music major in college, and now work full time as a voice actor an narrator. For years I did very little warm-up for narrating but recently (following a mild cold) I couldn't go for as long as I once had. This is a wonderful warm-up even for speakers.

I love these exercises and I've been using the girls version for about a year. I'm a trans guy and I started testosterone 2 months ago, my voice already got a bit lower and the girls version just isn't low enough anymore. I still can't hit some of the lowest notes but hopefully I will be able to soon!

As usual, great video! You have the best singing exercise videos on the web. They're succinct, challenging and fun. Thank you! One trick I found helpful for these lower exercises was doing the opposite of the trick used in the octave exercise in the daily singing alternative video. In that, you say to act like you're dropping down on top of the note an octave higher. In this one I tried acting like I was singing up to the lower note (even though I'm singing downwards) and for some reason it sounded fuller and better. If I'm totally wrong please let me know. Thanks again!

@m0nstaman
@m0nstaman 4 жыл бұрын
@@meebeepup I've been able to hit D1 even a few times despite D2 typically being my lowest chest note. I usually just start by hitting the note with fry and then trying to slowly add air to get that hum/rumble that actually feels like a note and then stay there. I've noticed it definitely helps to be a little warmed up as well.

m0nstaman wdym by hit the note with fry? This is interesting
@m0nstaman
@m0nstaman 4 жыл бұрын
@@meebeepup Like after D2 my voice basically drops off and it just becomes fry/growl like that movie The Grudge. But if you stay there and begin to play around with the air flow you should eventually find a sweet spot that can help you get some resonance out your chest.

Just a question: When you say to push into vocal fry is it normal that it looks like the note never change? I mean... the last note of the scale (vocal fry) sounds the same note during the whole exercise. Do I have to do something particular when I switch into vocal fry?

I have a predicament. I am a 16 year old bass 2. I currently have a 6 octave range, and can control pitches very well. However I begin to strain myself when singing higher notes, and around F5 and up I can no longer sing without incredible breathyness. I also cannot sing in any style but operatic in my lower falsetto. I have a video of me singing up my scale to give you a better understanding of what I mean. How can I fix my lower range to sing quieter and more angelic, as well as my higher register to sing without sounding breathy?
@VerbaVocal
@VerbaVocal 6 жыл бұрын
Work with twang and take less air in went working on higher notes. And on the lower notes simply play with volume to find a level that you are happy with.
