The thing that pisses me off about Simon here is that this is a TALENT show, not a SURPRISED TALENT show. There are contests here in the Philippines called ‘Doble Kara’ or ‘Double character’ in English. And it’s basically what Marcelito is doing. And here we even have the contestants with costumes as half boy side and half girl side and depending on which voice they are using, that side will face the audience, so the boy side of the costume will face the audience when he uses the boy voice and vice versa. BUT Marcelito does it on another insane level and without the comic relief effect we usually have here.

Marcelito is just doing it on the level of operatic counter tenors, aka more professionally rather than a hobby/comedy act. Takes some more effort but ultimately its not all that rare. He's just the one who knows how to do it right but sings easier popular songs instead of opera (Kinda like 2cellos are famous basically because they're pro cellists adapting simple popular music)
