i would like to add something .... i played carnoustie, north berwick and other windy Scotland courses. the best option in those condition is stinger and low piercing flight (UTILITY all day)... went further then my driver ... so add hybrid 4 and utility combo (2/3) OR 3 hybrid and 4/5 utility... for high wind conditions. It all depends where you play, ireland/scotland, coast course or inland with soft conditions.

What are you using to drive

Driver is currently Radspeed. I’ll pull out the 3w a good bit then 4-5 iron on shorter holes. I don’t have the 1-length utility anymore. I did use it for 2-3 seasons though

So i play the single length F8 irons, and I like the "one swing" approach as don't have much time to practice. I currently have a 4hybrid but it just feels 'different' (lighter shaft, hollow head) so I'm thinking the one length utility makes a lot of sense. What do you think?
@SimplifyYourSwing5 жыл бұрын
Jon Williams so you’re basically going to find the opposite with the utility. I thought it felt heavier and you’re not going to get the carry distance as you do with the hybrid. Essentially it’s going to come down to preference. If you are comfy and hit the 5 iron well, then the utility may be the right choice. I’d recommend maybe trying one either at a local shop or you can rent/try through global golf. If you can try then you can make a choice on what fits your game best.

If I shortened up my 4, 5 & 6 iron to same length as my current 7 iron...would if mess up the swing weight/shaft flex that much? I have Rouge irons
@SimplifyYourSwing3 жыл бұрын
Definitely not recommended. The swing weights and shaft flex will not be optimal, therefore producing shots and dispersions that you’re not happy with. There’s a lot that goes into making a set optimal for one-length than just cutting the shaft. Lie angles, swing weight, head weight, all kinds of things. If you’re interested, take a look at Pinhawk if you’re looking for just those 3, or Cobra. But they will still feel different than the rest of your irons.

@@SimplifyYourSwing yeah I bought these irons last year. From 7i down I'm money on ball striking & consistency. 4, 5 & 6...not so much. If its going to throw them off that much maybe choke down an inch or 2. Really don't want yo have to buy new clubs. It would be kinda weird having a 4, 5 & 6 iron that is totally different from my current set
@SimplifyYourSwing3 жыл бұрын
I kind of have the same thing with clubs too. I want them all to match. You can try gripping down to be more consistent. Not sure if you’ll get the same distance, but it’s worth a shot if you’re trying to save some $
@mptemplin3 жыл бұрын
@@SimplifyYourSwing if that doesn't work I might just go get fitted for one length for my 4, 5 & 6 iron....just make sure my gap distances match up with my current irons

@@mptemplin that’s a good idea if you decide to go that route

Did you have it in graphite or steel? I'm thinking about going graphite try and help get it a little more in the air? I can't hit a hybrid to at all but irons for me are good but I've got issues getting the lower lofted irons up yeah in a bind LOL
@SimplifyYourSwing5 жыл бұрын
Logan Callahan it was in graphite and stiff. I got the graphite for the same reason to get it in the air. Worked out well for me, just didn’t use it as much as I thought I would (really I got my driver sorted out)

Single Length School Okay wonderful thanks! Yeah unfortunately I've got no issues with distance with driver and 3 wood but forget about direction! So looking at that 250 down the middle with the iron! Appreciate the reply

Logan Callahan I have it in graphite stiff and I love it, have it set in 18* I’m carrying it about 230 very surprisingly consistent shots with it
