I've been playing one length for a year now, started with cobra F7 and loved them straight away. I then went all in and got a set of Edel SLS-01 (Edel made brysons before cobra snapped him up). Edel use graphite shafts Paderson Kinnetix this is so they can have different kick points throught the set make long irons go higher and lower the short irons. I'm a high launch hitter so I've never had a problem launching the long irons high in either set. What I've seen in many reviews and I think you also did it was to manipulate the ball setup, the idea is that you swing everything as you would a 7-iron that's the whole point, you then middle the ball more often and because of this you become very consistent in distance, no surprises where a shot goes 20yards longer when u middle it vs off centre strikes. Personally I go from SW - 5 in one length, I then flip to a cobra one length hybrid 3. I keep a traditional length 60 degree for specialist shots. My gapping is perfect. No going back for me it's just too easy to play golf like this. Good review though Andrew nice to see you with an open mind, it's peoples old views holding them back from trying them out. 9hcp.

Great comments, thanks for sharing. I think one length irons for lots of golfers would make the game easier. Will try and spread the word! All the best Andrew.

As always, great info, nicely done video! :) Changed over from Ping G 400s to the F9 one lengths this past Spring. Took awhile to get my "head wrapped around" chipping, mentally felt strange after playing over 50 years from a variable length position. Also, found the same gap issue, now carrying two hybrids, 6 thru PW one lengths and my "old faithful" Cleveland wedges. At 72, still trying to beat "old man Par" !! Thanks for sharing, and good luck with Cobra, been a fan since the "Fly+" days.

Andrew, great video the single length irons are the future of golf.The key is to get properly fitted. I've gone to the dark side 3 years ago with Sterling single lengths, each head weighs the same, lie angle is the same and swing weight is the same = good consistent golf. You should test Sterling vs cobra single lengths to see the difference between the clubs. Thanks for all your videos, you tell it as it is, no BS just the facts

I personally tested these out and had low spin issues with the 8/9/PW/GW plus they flew wayyy too high for my liking but hit the 5/6/7 SUPER well so I purchased those three irons individually and kept the rest of my set (8-GW wilson staff c300 forged) and have absolutely loved the setup. Got more distance with these so had to weaken some lofts a bit and that helped bring the spin and launch up a bit too.

I'm considering a similar setup and was thinking 5-6-7 Cobra Forged Tech SL, 7-GW c300 forged. Yeah, two 7-irons. The cobra is at 30.5 degree and the C300 is at 33. What's your carry gap between 7 and 8 iron in your setup? Thanks,

As usual, quality review. I’ve played the f8 & f9 irons - my preference is the f8s. These look very interesting...

Started playing 2nd hand set of cobra king one forged irons in October, accuracy and distance control very good, intended to try over winter and see how compared to my mizuno jpx 900 forged. At the moment the mizuno look as though they will be looking for new home. The irons have weaker lifts than the forged tec, but gaping 5 to pw is very consistent

Great news for you and Cobra Andrew! As a company, they seem to continue to innovate and provide performance as good as anyone In the market at a great price point. I play a Cobra F6+ driver from 2015 and still have not found anything better. Nice coup for you! I have tried the one length, enjoy them in the longer irons but couldn't get into the feel, look and height of the short irons in previous models. I considered doing a split set of one length from 5 to 7 then standard length from 8 iron down. Maybe I should have another go with these beauties?

@@andrewainsworth497 Sorry, I did not answer your question in the vid. I have tested some Irons and hybrids but the short shaft makes them feel like junior clubs. Not for me, thank you...

Good move getting Cobra into your offering I sense that that are going to have a good 2020 with their new Speedzone driver. I tried one of their very early attempts at SL but didn't get past the 7 Iron which I found really clunky. I have always been interested in the Sl concept and each year Cobra seems to be getting a little closer in ironing (no pun intended) out the wrinkles.

Hi Bandit, yes think Cobra should be good, really looking forward to the partnership. Regards Andrew

I know this review has been out for a while, but another thing to consider regarding the gapping and distance issue might be actual lofts versus stated lofts on Cobras website. I’ve read many comments on IG and various chat rooms where guys have taken brand new Cobras in for loft & lie checks and found them to be off several degrees. Don’t know if Cobra has quality control issues or what, but it’s worth looking into if several clubs are going the same distance.
@andrewainsworth4974 жыл бұрын
Hi Kyle, thanks for your comments. I would be very surprised if Cobra had the spec on these clubs that far out. I checked my One Length demo set and they were spot on for Loft and Lie. Best regards Andrew

Andrew ; This is not a new idea.A company called Tiger Shark made clubs all with the same length shaft ( 7 iron) in the 1980's.I vaguely recall a friend buying them and hailing them as the best thing since sliced bread.However their limitations quickly frustrated him,in that as you found, the 3,4 and 5 all went about the same distance. Perhaps the answer could be 2 hybrids instead of the 3 & 4 iron.? Hybrids weren't around back then ! . I think they stopped making that particular model after a few years. Tiger Shark clubs are still sold by Amazon.

Hi Andrew, I get the concept but I still see flaws so it's not for me. Is it possible to adjust the lofts in your studio to correct the gapping?
@andrewainsworth4975 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil, these Irons I believe have been set up in their best configuration so would not be changing the lofts. Regards Andrew

i swing at 96 mph 7 iron length and personally i have no low launch issues and the flight is pretty much equal to my set of apex pros. i genuinely feel that the one length needs decent club head speed for the gapping to be still 15 yards or so in the very low irons, its the only thing i can put it to with the problem of gapping issues being with moderate to slower swing speeds.
@andrewainsworth4974 жыл бұрын
Wow that's great club speed Adam, how far does your 7 Iron carry?

@@andrewainsworth497 with the apexs its about 185ish yards . The forged tec is 205ish as the hollow face is a bit hotter

I have used Cobra F7 (O.K.) and F9 ( better) SL irons with steel shafts and now use Milford SL-7 irons with graphite shafts. ( Milford Golf are only available in Oz and NZ/ & lofts are weaker than the Cobra and much cheaper) I use Cobra SL 3,4,5 Hybrids mainly because my distances with the Cobra F9 5 and 6 irons were not much different to the strong lofted 7 iron. My swing speed is not high enough ( around 80 mph with 7 iron) to get the 5&6 irons to launch high enough.

Exactly what I found with the one-length cobras. The 6, 5 and 4 iron gapping is off. Very similar distances with those irons. Weirdest thing. Great review. However, I don't think one can say that they "work really well" when the gapping is off the way they are in the "longer irons".

Same here re gaps so switched to 21 & 25 hybrids, then 7i-PW
@nathansmardenka52084 жыл бұрын
Seems like if you remove the 5i from the set you have a nice gap progression throughout the set. I went on the website to take a look at the specs and interestingly enough the lofts of the 6i, 5i and 4i are 26º, 23º and 21º. So, your yardages get squeezed together for those clubs because the lofts are squeezed together. There is only 3º difference between the 6i and 5i and only a 2º difference between the 5i and 4i!!!!
