Thank you for this wonderful video. I have this same watch, branded Bell & Ross by Sinn for 25 years and still were it today. It is, to my eyes, a great dial, easy to read and a very reliable tool that follows me everywhere.

I have seen that Bell & Ross watch in a watch shop on Changi, S'pore Airport, about that time and was super-surprised that appartently Sinn sold that model to Bell & Ross (it's a Helmut Sinn design). Just one thing to add for a long-term user of that watch: the red hands loose their colour over the years. This is already the 2nd set of hands, next time in service, the red ones will be replaced again. And- yes, it's a great watch in many respects, congratulations, mine is 25 years old, too. Take care, mate!

@@watch-checker I have to send it to service soon as it is a little bit slow. The red hands are a little bit pale, but my concern is about the numbers on the dial that lost completely there luminosity. I don’t know if they can change the dial as it is probably not available nowadays. Anyway the yellowed numbers give it a certain charm and the signe of the time passing by… Take car of you too!

Great review and excellent video. Thank you very much. I really like the Sinn 144 GMT, and am looking to purchase one soon.

Take the Art-Nr. 144.068, that's the one with the Diapal escapement & the GMT complication! Unfortunately, the Titanium housing is not available anymore.

I have Sinn GMT 144 St diapal technology, I must say one of my best in my collection, you can really feel the build quality, it's keeping the accuracy of plus 4sec a day, me personally I feel comfortable to ware the watch on any occasion because I feel it's a real companion and a watch for a life time... 😀

I absolutely agree. The reasons for buying that particular watch were- 1. I alwasy wanted a sinn. 2. I case of chrono, my must have is a tachymetre on the dial (read out production volumes or speed of car in a speed limit for setting the cruise control precisely to the max. allowed speed limit). 3. Back then, I had a job where I had frequent intercontinental flights. There, a 2nd time zone is a fine thing. 4. The titanium housing is very nice. Apart from that, I liked (and still do) the integration of the bracelet into the housing. Finally, I'm extremely happy with that watch. It serves me now for 24 years, had 3 revisions and still works perfect. And- the prices are absolutley reasonable. Just one thing (not to be seen as a dissadvantage): you have to have a dress watch then... . Take care, best regards, Otto

Much money, for a Sinn that is not saying Made in Germany
@watch-checker3 жыл бұрын
Hi Panda, Thanks for your comment. Well, it's a long story (I'll try the short version): 1. Actually, this is the 2nd dial (and the 2nd set of hands, too). The luminiscent marks of first one had lost their light storage capacity. On the first one however, there was a print, "Swiss Made", since the back then contracted OEM producer of Sinn was a Swiss company. And the movement still is of Swiss origin. Today, Sinn has an own production in Frankfurt. 2. But- I just checked it from the Sinn website (sinn.de) for you and the comunity, the today's version DOES COME WITH a print, "Made in Germany" around the 6 o'clock position ("144 St DIAPAL", Type no. 144.068). 3. Sinn (tool-) watches are made for the connoiseur, people who know and understand, having an acquired taste. I would say, they simply don't care about that kind of print. Sinn owners buy it for the function (Argon technology, Diapal escapement, water protection, today 20 bar ...). People who buy a Daytona today (if they can get it...), don't buy it for their function, they buy it because it's a bold statement (call it chunky if you want). Everybody can see, it's a Rolex. That's what they pay for. They want to show off. They don't even know that a Speedmaster Professional would be the ultimate proven chrono - and pays only half the price or even less (flight to the moon, official NASA gear). 4. Apart from the missing print "Made in Germany", the price stands for a titanium housing, a titanium bracelet and a self-winding chrono with a date and a GMT complication, apart from the other functions that are not printed on the dial (Argon, Diapal, ...). I think, Sinn is so successfull, because people appreciate the technology and don't care too much about a print on the dial. Finally, my personal comment- as an onwer of a Sinn 144: it's worth every cent. Really. No matter what is or is not printed on the dial. Please feel free and appriciated for any comment. I'll be happy to answer. Honestly.
