I used to be like this so scared to mess up in relationships. Especially growing up in a single parent home, I always thought I wouldn't be able to find someone who truly loves me. But the moment I started being vulnerable I saw that I was worthy of love ,I'm in a great relationship and I'm so open with my partner and I allow myself to let him know how I feel if I'm not happy with a certain situation. And that works very well. So thank you so much Mpoomy ,it resonates with me❤❤❤

5 months later and it's only now that I'm listening. I definitely agree with the therapy aspect. I started therapy in January 2023. Therapy has made me realize how hard and bitter I am at 22 years of age. Therapy also made me realize that my relationship with my mom is not the greatest. I endured a lot of trauma that was inflicted upon me by my mom mainly through hurtful words, insults and neglect. Now that I'm older and she wants that friendship/sisterhood bestie aspect and I struggle to give her the best parts of me because when I was little she gave me the worst parts of her. I've never felt loved, appreciated or adored. Therapy made me realize I need to address my childhood traumas to her and make her understand events and things that hurt me the most even if I don't get an apology from it. Love the points Sino mentioned on vulnerability.

I love Sinovuyo, but a year ago I didn't understand this podcast episode so I left it at that. The other day I saw a snippet of brene brown's TED talk on vulnerability and it reminded me of this episode. Before coming to watch this again I journaled and that resulted in me writing about vulnerability then something changed in Me. I am so glad I went through that to understand vulnerability for myself. So this episode just sealed my understanding even better.

I could tell Sinovuyo thinks deeply about life like I do, but how she so freely narrated that made me believe that is a superpower instead of how I'd always seen it as this intellectual realm that made it hard for me to cross over my relatability to others. Parts of her childhood were a reflection of mine, especially how parents not explaining things leads to confusion that makes one doubt or be able to acknowledge or articulate what you know is real within themselves. And working to unravel that doubt can be a life-long challenge, but vulnerability is absolutely key to this pursuit. Thanks Mpoomy for this great interview ❤

A lady once told me to always tell the truth to your child no matter how old. My husband and I left for a funeral and did not explain to my children why or where we were going. The lady we were travelling with said when you go back home apologise and tell them where you went and why. Children need the full circle like Sino said. Explain. Your child needs to understand. It completely made sense to me because growing up our parents never explained and this builds trauma.
