JEEPERS CREEPERS! We could NOT afford the real Souxie & the Banshees version. OK, you understand now everyone? Our budge on JC was so small we could not afford the actual Siouxsie and the Banshees version. So, we purchased the rights to the song, then used one of the producer's relatives' ( a niece I think ) garage band to do a cover - sounding as much like Souxie & the Banshees as they could. Happily, they did a really great job. Did I say... "A small budget"? HEH! the budget the studio spent on advertising the film was larger than the budget we had to make the movie. Budget problems aside, we still had such fun making the film. Yes, though many terrible things happened during production ( as they do in all movies ) our tight little crew had bonded well under the beneficent leadership of the director. Often after 14 hour days the director and his posse ( including me ) had great laughs while driving back in a gold SUV ( dubbed the Gold Fish) to our accommodations in the middle of Florida ( during the hottest time of the year! ) Me? I got to do story boarding for the film, plus some extra design work on what ever was needed... costumes, vehicles, weapons, and even the best thing of all, the "CREEPER" himself. We didn't stick to strict "I can only do this or that, and I can only do it for this amount of $, and I cannot work longer than so-in-so hours" That kind of attitude is not how a good low budget film is made. Everyone has to know the story, and have a good feeling about making it. The director opened up his vision of the story he was telling to several of us who where there to help creatively. Any and all ideas were listened to. Often incorporated in if they helped. Egos were dropped and the goal was always about creating the best possible film we could make. Since we in the small creative posse were almost always in "Brain Storm Mode"... I kinda' recall it was MY idea to use Souxie and the Banshee's version of the song "Jeepers Creepers" - (Maybe, I think ). Of course, I also thought we should have used Rob Zombie's "Meet the Creeper" for the end credits. However, I was out voted on that one. The writer / director decided to use a old creepy song instead to great effect. All that being said, it was the BEST movie making experience I've had. Plus, I'm so happy that it was a seamless use of an AWESOME TUNE in a really AWESOME monster movie! ( check that "Make a low budget Monster Movie" off my bucket list. )
@eduardo_corrochio Жыл бұрын
But the fake version here of Peek-aboo isn't AWESOME like the original. This is _not_ the legit band (Siouxsie and the Banshees) that we're hearing, it's some kind of lame substitute by a band called Echo 3. They don't even use a squeezebox, LOL.
@old-manparker61539 ай бұрын
Dear @@eduardo_corrochio , as stated above, for the very small budget we had to work with - it was AWESOME to get ANY version of "Peek-A-Boo" that was close enough that it would sound to the movie patron that it was "Souxie and the Banshees" while they were watching that scene -- Yes, of course, later on the patron may notice it is not be the exact version of that song as heard on the "Souxie and the Banshees" album. However, it was precisely what was needed in that scene. Eduardo, mi amigo, It's all "Smoke & Mirrors" to get what-ever the movie needs... as good as we can get it ...at the price we can afford. Yes sir, it's all smoke & mirrors, ya' know. Smoke & mirrors.
@eduardo_corrochio9 ай бұрын
@@old-manparker6153 I have to apologize. I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. When I first commented here I was mad because the video didn't clearly show that this wasn't the 1980s song (I had been browsing YT for the studio track of the song, at the time). And now I understand that you are part of the team that made the movie. I'm sure it was not your intention to allow people to believe that this video is the Siouxsie tune. Sorry I raised such a fuss. I like the movie ... I'm a fan of monster movies in general, from the 1920s through the present day. One of my favorite opening sequences in horror cinema is the introduction of the two siblings and what they discover. That was so good. Some people remember an episode of Unsolved Mysteries that was similar (but involved a middle aged couple). It's always interesting, the things that might inspire a scene for a movie. And I understand why the end credits song, Hush Hush Hush-- Here Comes the Boogeyman, was chosen. Its old-timey vibe _is_ rather creepy. Oh, and in the scene where Darry finds the song Jeepers Creepers on the car radio, it could definitely be mistaken for the original cut. So that's a testment to the musicians. But they should've had an accordion, LOL. ;-) Just kidding. Anyway, thanks for being civil here in your replies after I was all sour and cranky. The next person might have simply told me where to go.
@old-manparker61539 ай бұрын
No worries@@eduardo_corrochio . I completely understand your view point, and I thank you for your close attention to the film. I am honored, sir, by your interest and appreciation. Thank you. When people tell me about their interest, and hopefully enjoyment, of a film ( or music video, or commercial, or video/computer game, or whatever ) I worked on, it is a special reward for a lot of work that no one ever knows about. Sure I get paid, but that's only a small part of why some one, er... why I would do this kinda' work. It's too much work to do just for the CA$H. This sort of work is "ART", and art is crazy-hard work. Please allow me to explain... a person can do a lot of work (often crazy-hard problem solving intensely creative work) for a big chunk of time of your life... and it can have absolutely no affect ...on anyone. OR... maybe that tough creative work can help make people's lives ...better! My writer/director friend says he makes movies to help make the world a better place. Perhaps, in a way, even to help save the world. When done correctly, I believe work on a movie completely takes over your life. You live, eat, drink, breath & dream the "Project" - the "story". Your social life is frozen. Despite what the union says, you... ( well, I guess I mean ME as I can only speak for myself ) ...work as long as there are things that need to be done. Which there will be, because you are trying to create an impossible false reality that tells a distinct story in an interesting manner - a story that has a point it that will help folks who see it. That can be extremely hard work. I've been in script/storyboard meetings that went a bit long... and that turned into running a little late... and that running late went into the evening... then you order pizza & the evening turns into an all nighter... which goes on into the next morning, which is Saturday, so..." Hey it's already the weekend, right? Let's just get as much done as possible today so we can show the cinematographer this new stuff tomorrow. Sunday? Well, or Monday. Call him and get him over here as soon as possible. Oh, yeah, let's have the producer go over the budget to make sure we can afford to do this new stuff..." and that goes on and on as new problems arise daily and blah blah blah. Each second of every scene has to be carefully made to impart as much information as clearly & cleverly & brilliantly enough to tell the story while moving it forward in an entertaining & unique manner. Nothing is by chance. Well, anyway, that's the way I prefer to do movie work because I've noticed when a movie is done this way, with a group of creative folks teamed up with a leader with vision and all are focused only on one purpose... the impossible happens and a good movie gets made. However, if you work standard hours, and no one really understands the point of the script, or cares, and no one knows the director's "vision" so no-one can push harder to make it happen... then something mediocre or much worse is made...a bad movie. We've all watched them. A bad movie that stole two hours of your precious life away while it was killing your brain. When you work that way, you feel like you're throwing away your life & a piece of your soul writhers up and dies. Thus, I try very hard to work in a proper fashion, and it's nice when some one notices. So, thank you @eduardo_corrochio. Your appreciation is highly appreciated. Have a great new year my friend.
