What a band, what a singer. This is utterly magnificent. A word for Budgie on drums - amazing.

I agree that this version sits better with me as well, McCay was very unique in style, and very good live, but McGeoch had a way of improvising on stage in a manner that few can. His rifts with Armory Show and especially PIL exhibit a high degree of flexibility. Great to see thesew old clips, wish more were available.

You're doing them a great justice. I grew up listening to U2. I wish my parents had played the banshees, but I think they were too dark for them to handle : )

Such a great song from such a great band, one of my 3 fave ones from them. It's such a pity they blanded down with 1988's "Peepshow", I can remember how disappointed I was then, my copy nearly fell off my hands. Happily, that year, Lush took over from the Banshees.

Actually, there's a beat that he constantly does on Juju. I don't know what it's called and I don't want to know either cause I'm not a musician. Notice the floor tom and the snare, sometimes he changes the timing or adds toms and cymbals. I love that beat. I must admit I use it a lot too and he's a big influence.

I guessed you would know! Yes I agree with you John McGeogh played it his way which was the best for me anyway but I know what you mean regarding John McKay's totally unique sound on the material he worked on during his time with them. I think that Kenny Morris was a unique drummer as well but I prefer Budgie as the drummer so much power and energy Morris had a sort of regimented style of drumming I think.

Okay, I know this is literally a decade-old comment, but in the off-chance someone's scrolling through the comments, might as well answer. It sounds to me like "durch Lautsprecher" roughly meaning "through loudspeaker". I get the impression that she's not overly happy with the audio visuals on this concert. Certainly the recording quality doesn't seem to be quite on a par with Nocturne.
