This is the local mountain. The vibe and energy from this small ski resort made our entire trip to New Mexico worth it. We loved the old-school ski resort feel as well. It was such an epic place.

We have that exact same lift in Norway in a tiny offpiste place called haukelifjell. During periods of little snow there is a place under the lift where the rod is too short to reach all the way down to the ground and you get to hang and dangle off the ground for a few seconds. This spot trips up a lot of the beginners while the pros get to do 720 and have fun 😅

Pretty common life in Scotland too. I think Glenshee has about 10 of them. Super tough for the new riders though especially the faster ones.

That same lift is also at the very top of Snowmass. I think it’s cooler though because of the crazy view of the Cirque. You should do that when you get to Snowmass.

I have really enjoyed skiing at Sipapu. Not crowded, inexpensive, low key, yes, slow lifts(but it is New Mexico), friendly, relaxed. If you want fancy, go to CO. You’ll pay. If you just want to ski, go to Sipapu. Glades open with enough snow. Cruisers.

I know you have hundreds of USA resorts to cover still.. But if you're ever close to the Canadian border, hop over to Banff and go to Sunshine Village and Lake Louise resorts.. I'd love to hear your take on them as well as the other resorts along the powder highway. There are so many killer resorts in the Canadian Rockies and interior BC

A lot of commuting Texans visit Sipapu, especially for their ticket prices. In the past, they've had ticket specials that bring down the price to the low 20s. It's definitely a great family-friendly resort. Taos and Angel Fire is also just around the corner, both within an hour drive.

They still have insane deals if you buy in advance. I’m seeing a ticket for $11 in January and many days below $20 (2 months in advance)

Sipapu’s lift tickets actually get way cheaper than that- it’s my home mountain and I have never paid more than $40 a ticket, and the lowest price I have seen is $11 on a weekday. So I disagree with your 7/10

I don't think it is a perfect spot for beginners. Trails are either too short, too steep, or too narrow. I have been there 2 seasons as a beginner.

Used to go every year... You would have given the employees a 15 pre coof... I went last year before your pow day and it was absolutely terrible what they had done to the place I loved as a kid... The levels that businesses in New Mexico stooped to the governments stupid meaningless regulations genuinely made me never want to go back... You should have gone to sipapu fifteen years ago...
