Mario galaxy 2 is and will always be my favorite childhood game, and to this day, it is among the best games ever. Imo galaxy 2 really has some of the best music i have ever heard, it tops galaxy 1 for me. The music is truly peak.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I do prefer this over the first Galaxy game. Puzzle Plank and Cove of Stars are my absolute favourites, the former slaps and the latter is one of the greatest underwater themes in gaming history imo

47:33 I fucking love Space Storm Galaxy. It’s right at the point where the game says “all right, playtime’s over, shit’s getting real.” The theme is menacing and feels like you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be, which fits PERFECTLY with the derelict space station already filled with dangers that is now caught up in a cosmic storm. (And no, I will NEVER call the song “Battle Belt” because those ASTEROIDS can go FUCK off somewhere else.) And then you boot up the second mission and are hit with Buoy Base’s theme, and now everything’s moving really fast, but now there’s a button that can slow time, and how cool is that?

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is one of the first Mario games I ever played, and it is probably my favorite game of all time. I had lots of fun playing Galaxy 1 for the first time, as I had no idea it existed, but I still prefer Galaxy 2 over 1. The music is incredible in both games, and it brings back lots of childhood memories for me. I always forget that Glamdozer exists...

Amazing tier list, just like the 1st Galaxy! I got Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Christmas back in 2010 and only beat the first few missions for the longest time. But after over a decade, I revisited it in 2021, and I VERY strongly regret neglecting this game! Galaxy 2 took what was already an amazing game, and managed to make it even better! That goes for the amazing soundtrack as well, and I have no problems with any of your placements! Glad we can agree the Galaxy duology has an absolutely stellar OST!

I will always prefer galaxy 2 to galaxy 1 but it’s not even because it’s better, they are pretty much equally good 2 is just more fun to 100% but 1 has its own selling points that I can see would make people prefer it. If you say Mario galaxy is your favorite game you shouldn’t have to specify which they are a package deal.

While I think Super Mario Galaxy 1 is a much better game, the music in Galaxy 2 is truly incredible, especially the time attack song. Again I still prefer the original but SMG2's soundtrack has some real bangers.

24:28 this piece is heavly inspired by classical music (duh every song in this game is), but this particular one is inspired by a composed called ravel, and possibly debussy. there's a piece called gaspard de la nuit odine (odine means water element, and the galaxy is water themed) and use similar chords and have a similar dreamy vibe, and there are many other pieces by these composers that have parts with this feeling. another similar piece I can think of that has a similar vibe is reverie by debussy

I recently bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 used and I have to admit: After playing Super Mario Galaxy nearly entirely, while also starting Super Mario Galaxy 2 not too long ago, I have to say that the successor is unfortunately inferior to me in the music as the entire package. One major reason is that the music is not that melancholic and fitting to the endless and dreamy vibe of travelling through galaxies and space. With that being said: I have to admit that Yoshi's galaxy and the remake of Koopa's road are easily some of the best OST and the Koopa's road of SMG2 is way better than the one of SMG. Eventhough Super Mario Galaxy 2 sounds so optional, both games deserve their Existence. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is probably in the middle of all 3D-Marios, but shall be respected too like the rest of the bunch.

In my opinion, Galaxy 2 is like the New Soup to 1: improved gameplay but bland design. I feel the tracks mirror this. They are, undeniably, bops, but they seems more generic than things like Space Junk Road or Battlerock. I personally perfer 1, but i can see the appeal in 2, especially in the soundtrack.
