I was a travel agent and I can not tell you how many clients when they returned said they had a good time but never found Harry Potter World or Shamu. Or went to Universal and never found Mickey. And many people thought Disney had 4 parks..Disney..Universal..Sea World..and Bush Gardens. People booking the Disney cruise wanted to know what park they went to to board the cruise. And any people think Disney World and Disney Land are one in the same..in Orlando!

Susan Burris Been there, done that. I even had people tell me (When staying outside the park) that they didn't need a car because they could just walk to the park. Uh, five miles and no sidewalks??? Also had people tell me that they wanted an ocean view room at the Grand Floridian. Yeah, but you'll have to bring your telescope. Why? Because the nearest ocean view is over 100 miles away and there might be some buildings in the way.

Jaynie Beth..that is what got me about the cruisers...they were clueless there wasn't an ocean near Orlando. But then people asked me where ny cruises from Vegas were.

While it didn't happen at a theme park, I was at the Arkansas Heritage Museum watching a Revolutionary War reenactment for the 4th of July. When the British were firing at the minute men, the lady next to me siad to what appeared to be her husband, "You know what I don't get....Why were the British in our country in the first place" The look on his face was priceless.

So we went to Disney this past September, and I must've said "Kids look at the castle, let's get a picture in front of the castle" in front of the train station about a thousand times. The kids cracked up every time. They also loved it when we walked by a closed for refurb Splash Mountain and I said "You can't be closed, you'll ruin the whole trip for Bessy Sue." My kids LOOOOVE your "dumb guest" references. Keep up the great work.

A few years ago at Universal, I wanted to ask the employee where the bathroom was, and also what ride he's recommend. What came out was a question about what bathroom he'd recommend. It took me over 10 seconds to realize what I'd just said.

Working retail, you get ask a lot of dumb questions as well. One year while working at Dollar Tree for Christmas and it was 3 days before Christmas. This guy asked several times (while picking up different items) "How much is this?" "Sir, everything in this store is 1 dollar." "Well how about this item?" "1 dollar, sir." By this point I was annoyed (store was packed) and I was tired of being polite. "Where is the wrapping paper?" I said, "Open your eyes it is everywhere!!!" I walked off.

I got a lady come, who apparently was just visiting Downtown Disney in Cali, and said “where do I buy the tickets to ride the monorail?” I said “If you have your Disney ticket, you may just get on it!” Her: “I don’t have a ticket to Disney, I just want to ride the monorail ” “I’m sorry ma’am, but I’m afraid you need a Disney ticket to ride the monorail” “How much is it?” “During this season, around $100, maybe more” *shocked gasp* “No, I just want the monorail, where can I get tickets for the monorail” “Ma’am, I’m sorry but there is no such thing, you need a Disneyland ticket” *guest gets upset* “I just want to ride the monorail! I am always surprised to hear people ask, 'Where is the castle?' and it's like, directly in front of them. Also, I can see how much hard work you put into your videos, you're doing a fantastic job! I actually gave directions from Jurassic Park to Indiana Jones, step by step up from how to get to their car, to the freeways needed, to parking locations, to directions once inside the other park. I got in trouble but it was totally worth it.

I work at a local zoo as a keeper/educator, so I've had my fair share of idiotic questions asked of me. One guy asked why we sold all of our animals to the circus after we close for the season. Why exactly would we sell any animal to a circus, but especially animals like deer, ostrich, and goats? Another asked what the best tasting animal at the zoo was, replying that he likes his meat best when it's endangered. However, the single best question I was ever asked was where the elephant was (we haven't had an elephant since 2005) to which I replied "Oh no, you didn't see her!? Not again!" With questions like these from locals, I can only imagine what it's like working at a Theme Park like Disney or Universal.

Oh man the monorail story reminds me of the time I asked a cast member at DHS how to walk to Epcot. (I knew it had something to do with the boardwalk but had never been there before.) The cast member's response was "Yeah you walk out the gates to the buses, wait for the Epcot bus, and the bus will take you to Epcot." Nothing about the walk or the boat... Luckily, another cast member overheard the conversation and came over to help.

I am working the museum gift shop right now, covering lunches for my staff. A woman, just now, walked up to me and asked if she was close to the gift shop. I glanced at all the product clearly in visible range, and responded "yes." She looked at me weird..."oh, is this the gift shop?" No, this display of pralines and peppermints were utilized by the old rangers, and these decorative dominoes kept them busy around the campfire, while these thirty different mugs gave variety through the long treks of frontier defense.

During Christmas time at Dollywood we have over 4 million Christmas lights. They are literally every single building in the park. And one time last December a lady asked me where the Christmas lights were.

I use to work at The Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village as a historical presenter on the living history farm sights back in the late 90's. This meant that I was dressed in clothing from either the 1700's or 1800's right down to the undergarments all while cooking on an open hearth or coal burning stove in the summer heat while maintaining historical accuracy. We would be asked by visitors all of the time if we had air conditioners under our skirts. As the perspiration glistened down my face I would smile & say, no unfortunately neither Mr. Ford nor Mr. Edison has come up with that innovation. Then the visitors would scoff.....Well at Disney World all the characters there have air conditioned costumes!! Which I know is not true but I would say to the visitors....really! Those Imagineers have the best kept secrets & then I would smile & continue talking about my building. XD

We lined up behind two other families to get our picture taken by one of the PhotoPass photographers when a huge group got behind us. They stood there for a minute or so before one of them tapped me on the shoulder and asked, "What ride is this fer?" (no misspelling, that's how they asked it.) When I said, "It's not; it's to get our pictures taken." They actually asked, "Why y'all standin in line to git yer pictures taken? That's stoopid!" We were getting our picture taken in front of the castle, and we waited a grand total of five minutes. No ride in sight, but I'm not sure how they missed that.

If she was with a larger family that she moved around with she may have never realized that she left one park and went into another. Never under estimate the confusion of a guest.

Really funny Sir Willow! I worked at a one-stop center for students at a major university (retired for one year now). We sent them letters, we sent them emails, we posted all kinds of information on our web site and on their student portals about financial aid. And at least daily, after some student had completely messed up and became ineligible for aid for the next semester, I got "but nobody told me!" I had one ask why no one called her. After I was done giving my talk, a mom raised her hand and asked “when does the rhino’s horn fall off and it becomes a hippo?” I very quickly look over at my camp counselor to see if she would help me, she just gave a look like “hah you have to figure that out”. I ended up saying “oh. Actually the Rhinoceros and the Hippopotamus are actually two different species, and they don’t live near each other in the wild” what I wanted to say was “how dum are you? I used to work at an amusement park, at two rides that were very dependent on the wind. Even if you could barely feel the wind on the ground (and you usually couldn't because both ride entrances were surrounded by trees), if the anemometers told us the wind speed was too high at the top of the rides, we shut them down. The most common question we got, and we made fun of people every time they asked this, "Well, when will the ride be back open?" Towards the end, I started just replying to people to ask mother nature when she was going to stop the wind. I also just told people: I don't know; I'm not the weatherman.

Anthropology student here. I was walking around Epcot and in front of the pyramid, it said something to effect of a demonstration at noon. Nothing at all about what type of demonstration. The only thing I could think of was a priest ripping the still beating heart out of a guest at the top of the pyramid. I was really disappointed when it turned out to be people dancing and playing guitars.

We very often got "Are you still open?" When the lights were still on and there was myself and another worker just talking. Like, yes we're definitely closed, just wasting power and chatting away at an empty ride! Or we had ERT (Early Ride Time) for some of the rides for gold pass members, and we'd get people asking if we were open all the time before we actually did open! I, and my coworkers, found ERT completely pointless, but it wasn't my place to complain about it.

Kaeli Zweber I’ve asked that before for some rides, because it was EPCOT. So yes, the park may be open, and I may have a fast pass, but odds were good that it was either closed, or they were going to close it while you were either in line or currently riding it. ...or all three, because, yes, this does, and DID happen. Now outside of EPCOT, it may be cultural differences. I went to Disneyland Paris once, and just like with most places I discovered, closing time means the employees are already clocked out and gone. So an hour or two before closing, many places I went, DLRP included, started shuffling people away from areas, or not even letting them enter an hour or so before they really closed. The last time I went to Universal was Orlando back in May of 2009. I don’t remember if it was 6 or 7, I just remember that it was daytime, and they were shuffling people out of there an hour earlier. You could shop in the main area, you just couldn’t be in any of the lands.

I'm late to this video by a lot, but my mom has a perfect story for this: After I got SCUBA certified, for my birthday one year my parents paid for me to go diving in the EPCOT aquarium (highly recommend! it's awesome, especially if you're like me at all and were nervous about transitioning from diving with people you knew in tame springs to diving with people you sometimes didn't know out in the ocean) Anyway, my mom took me and while I went on the tour and dove, she got to hang out in EPCOT with a cast member (his job was really to make sure she was back to 1. have this sweet moment they do where people who are diving can wave to their friends and family who are outside the tank and 2. pick me up at the end so they didn't have to babysit me at all) While they're in the exhibit just as we were descending into the tank, some other guests are watching too and the dad of this family goes "Wow, those animatronics are getting better every year!" The cast member just looked at my mom who was ready to say, "hey, no, my kid is not a robot" and shook his head as if to say "don't bother correcting them, I've tried"

This video is so true and priceless!! Anytime I’m at Disneyland or DCA, I always hear questions that make my brain hurt, or just senseless comments...like people going on splash mountain and complaining they got wet. Going to Disneyland and DCA really reminds me of working retail. The answers in your video really remind me of answers i would give to customers. Example..people’s’ membership cards would expire at the end of the month. When it was February, people would always say “oh it’s going to expire on February 31st?” I’d just tell them yeah it expires on February 31st! Keep up the great work with your videos!

Walt Disney World has a land area approximately equal to that of San Francisco. The cost of purchasing all the materials needed to cover that area in a dome would be over $1 trillion, that's just for getting the materials. This does not take into account paying for surveys to decide where to put structural supports, wages for the workers building the dome or lost revenue from having to close large parts of WDW for dome construction. Then there are the repeating costs of insurance, routine maintenance, and repairs to the dome. The end result would protect guests from weather, but Disney would have to make all that money back somehow or they'd be out of business.

When i was 21 i went to Disney world for my birthday. Since it was October i wore a generic princess dress with a nice tiara into the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Fun fact about 21 year old me, i looked 13 to 14 years old. I also had the birthday button pinned to my dress bodice. Yet despite this i had this group of Chinese tourists come up to me and asked me what princess i was. I told them my real name because I wasn’t dressed as any particular princess. Just me. They then asked for pictures and if they could film me saying congratulations. I did both. Then still at the magic kingdom my parents went to the ornament shop. I had been walking a lot and wearing a full length ball gown at Disney is not fun. So i sat down in the sleigh right outside the store... next thing i know I’m suddenly surrounded by three to four little girls all climbing up into the sleigh with and asking to get their picture taken with me. I say yes and start talking to the girls as if i was a real Disney princess. The parents took the pictures as we talked and then they left. It was a sweet and adorable moment. But when we went to Epcot a lady ran up to me when i was with my parents asking where the bathroom was... that’s when i started to realize that people thought i was a Disney cast member... i guess no one read my birthday button... and no i didn’t sign any autographs. I knew that was a no no. But its funny to think no one question why there was a new Disney princess running around that no one had ever seen before... that was also wearing a guest birthday button. Though it was one of my favorite trips to Disney of all time. And I’ve been their a lot. 😊

I'm Glad I found Your Channel! Videos are So Funny - I haven't worked at any theme parks, But One I visit Often is Busch Gardens Tampa and Once I overheard a Lady Basically Blame Busch Gardens Because the Rides were down because of lightning in the Area, and another time a Man was letting his son put his finger inside the turtles by Sesame Street and there was a duck trying to bite the little kids finger, and they were having a good laugh about it!!! Those are my most memorable....

Just got back from 2 days at WDW. They’re working on the new transportation skyway. The landscape is changing. The corner of Osceola and victory way had huge steel beams up etc. Now folks are going to fly over the traffic to get to resorts and parks I guess. Wow! It does seem there’s more and more traffic all the time. Thanks for the fun videos.

Oh my goodness... SO many stupid questions when I was working at WDW. I was Tomorrowland attractions, Stitch side, so I was often near the bridge to Main Street. Some of my favorites (which almost EVERY Magic Kingdom cast member was warned of ahead of time) were "What time is the 3 o'clock parade?" (appropriate responses included, "3 o'clock, but it gets to THIS point on the route at 3:15.") and "Where's the castle?" (when I worked there, there was only Cinderella Castle). I also personally got "When can I smoke here?" (while sitting UNDER the NO SMOKING sign). I took a risk and answered, "Sir, if you were currently on fire I would allow you to smoke in front of this attraction, however I would do my best to put you out as quickly as possible." He laughed, put out his cigarette, and walked away. Another time, my sarcasm was accidental and I was genuinely worried about my job. I was working EMH til 3am (I have no idea whose genius idea that was), and had finally reached the point where I couldn't pretend to be awake. An elderly couple approached me, and this exchanged occurred between me and the wife: Wife: Honey, are you okay? You look tired. Me: I AM tired. Wife: *pause* Well, why are you still here? Me: *without missing a beat* Because YOU'RE still here. I apologized IMMEDIATELY, but got lucky, as they just laughed it off and walked away.
