I have the SG800, will I be able to use the inks that came with my printer for the EasySubli paper? Or do I need to ONLY use the Siser ink?
@uscuttervideos5 жыл бұрын
For optimal results, EasySubli ink is recommended for use with EasySubli HTV. Sublijet-HD ink can be used with EasySubli. The VPM settings will need to be tweaked as the Sublijet HD VPM tends to lay down a lot of ink which can result in over saturation of the HTV and provide less than ideal prints. The Siser edition VPM (EasySubli VPM) can also be used with the Sublijet-HD inks but again the prints created may result in the HTV being over saturation with ink and produce less than ideal results. In short, you can use your existing sublimation inks with EasySubli vinyl but your results might not be as good compared to EasySubli inks, which were designed to exactly match the vinyl.

Why did you change the temp from 310 to 340? Is it because you used the mask? Can you re-use the mask?
@uscuttervideos5 жыл бұрын
It is not recommended to re-use the mask because there may be residual ink from the last design that you do not want to ghost on your new design. The temperature was increased from 310 to 340 for the portable heat press which (depending on the user) may provide less pressure than a large heat press with a levered handle.

I got some samples of this and didn't have good results. I just have generic sublimation inks and I use Sawgrass Powerdriver, which is fine for mugs and glass. I found the inks bleed quite badly on the paper, especially the black, the designs were very dark too. My cutlines were pretty bad even after a day setting them up and accurate in the software. I guess my old silhoutte 1 has too much movement down the page. I found the mask quite useless for picking up the designs especially small pieces. I liked the hand of it though, it would be close to a flock vinyl used for print/cut. Therefore for me to use it, I'd probably have to change my inksets out. Get a newer cutter. At over £2 per sheet and it actually being more difficult to setup cutlines in Silhouette around a jpeg than using AI for print/cut I don't think it's for me. I'm not slating the product, just saying you probably need to meet all the right conditions to get the results you see advertised.
@uscuttervideos5 жыл бұрын
It is important to note that EasySubli vinyl provides best results when used with EasySubli inks. It is also important to enable the Siser edition of the Sawgrass Virtuoso Print Manager which is controlling the specific ink density needed for EasySubli to avoid the bleed that you are seeing. Using the manufacturer's recommended companion products and recommended settings yields excellent results. The more variables you start to add, the more results become unpredictable and at over £2 per sheet it gets costly to experiment.

@uscuttervideos5 жыл бұрын
Color, texture/hand, matte vs. gloss, washfastness, ease of weeding etc. are all possible things to consider for any appliqué. Sublimation in particular makes a very strong bond between the inks and the polymer material it is sublimated to. Vibrant colors and strength of the bond make sublimation an important tool.

@@uscuttervideos ...okay. So do I only need to cut the image with Subli? I thought I'd be able to print fades, and have no definitive lines. I'm assuming because of the process needed to use Sublimation dyes on Cottons and Dark colors, there's still that need for a white base? Yes?
@uscuttervideos5 жыл бұрын
@@GodKing666 You need to contour cut the EasySubli vinyl, but there is no need to contour cut transfer paper when sublimating onto hard surfaces like ceramic tiles. Great video and very intriguing product! I know EasySubli is 'designed' to work with EasySubli ink on the Sawgrass printer, but would it work on other sublimation ink/printer combos (theoretically)?
@uscuttervideos5 жыл бұрын
Not having tested it with other configurations I would not be able to give a definitive answer, but let's follow your question from a theoretical perspective. The first challenge you face is getting the sheet of vinyl to feed through your printer without jamming, scratching the vinyl or smearing the ink. Given that the vinyl is 220 microns with a shiny/slippery backer which needs to get picked up by the printer feed rollers, you would need a printer that can handle thick papers and overhead transparencies. I heard that Siser spent over a year getting EasySubli vinyl to move smoothly through the Sawgrass SG400. Next you would have to consider ink density on a semi-porous surface and also possible color shift from the ink. Your sublimation temperature/time would be up to you to experiment with and define since each combination of printer and ink may produce different results. If you happen to have a printer and ink and are not worried about a possible paper jam, it might make sense for you to experiment with a few sheets of EasySubli and see what happens. Most people lean towards letting the manufacturer do all the heavy lifting so that they can follow easy steps to get consistent results, but you may lean towards a more experimental approach.

@uscuttervideos4 жыл бұрын
EasySubli vinyl is more flexible than standard vinyl (it feels much softer). I assume your question relates to wash/dry cycles for a garment decorated with EasySubli. As long as you wash/dry a garment inside out and do not subject it to high heat in the dryer, EasySubli vinyl should last a long time, possibly longer than the garment itself.
@GluePaperScissors4 жыл бұрын
USCutter Videos one more question. If I change the ink for easy sub inks can I still use the same ink for regular prints on light color garments or do I have to change put inks?

@@GluePaperScissors Sublimation inks like EasySubli ink are specific to sublimation projects and are not appropriate for regular prints. Standard inkjet printers use a different technology and different inkset (which of course cannot sublimate). @uscuttervideos4 жыл бұрын
(note that we have to be careful to understand the difference between EasySubli inks, EasySubli Vinyl and EasySubli mask as each component provides a specific function) EasySubli inks, just like any sublimation ink require ceramics to have a polymer coating, since sublimation only works on polyester or polymer coated products. If you wanted to sublimate EasySubli inks to EasySubli vinyl (which is polymer coated) you could apply the EasySubli vinyl to a number of different surfaces, but applying vinyl to ceramics would be less common because vinyl is not dishwasher safe.
