Keep posting these videos. Can't get enough S&E. They used to air at 7:30 PM on Saturdays our Boston ABC affiliate when I was younger. If my friends wanted to hang out on Saturdays, I told them I'd see them at 8:00 PM. They thought I was weird. I didn't care. RIP to the legends.

Thelma & Louise is iconic. It has stood the test of time. The final scene was perfect. Riviting. There comes a time of no turning back. By choosing their own fate they became free...That is the reason for the freeze frame. A moment later they were dead...I never want to see that part. TgT

i remember seeing Andrew Dice Clay in really small parts in goofy films all the way back to the early 80s, and to some small degree i liked him back then or that is i liked him in so much as he was some weird character actor i recognized in goofy teen comedies i liked. and i remember around this time in the early 90s when he for some reason really took off for awhile and i personally couldnt stand him and didnt get his success. and its kind of funny that right after talking about "Hanging With The Homeboys" and the Puerto Rican character that pretends he is Italian, they go right to Clay who is Jewish and made a whole career of Pretending to be some Italian Jerseyish stereotype.

I honestly enjoyed first seeing Dice in FORD FAIRLANE. It was a good movie, but it wasn't so successful. I heard of this--the first stand-up concert film of his that was in theatres. To get an NC-17 for language alone. I was intrigued. I saw the whole thing when it was up here on KZbin. I couldn't even finish watching it. I'm with Roger and Gene on this one.

WILD HEARTS CAN'T BE BROKEN is better than Siskel and Ebert thought. They had a problem with the plot. However, this was based upon a TRUE story. This is something that was typical of Ebert. He sometimes criticized plot developments that were literally taken from a true story. He's right about this -- but only if it was pure fiction.
@Mrx2848
@Mrx2848 2 жыл бұрын
If a true story is told in a way that the audience doesn't buy it, is that not a knock on the storyteller? Ebert said something to that end in review of 'Wild America' - that he laughed when the 'based on a true story' disclaimer appeared at the end because the entire movie up to that point was unbelievable.

Thelma & louise was such a great movie. U see how one horrible incident unexpectedly on just a regular night out of blowing off steam snow balls & if they did a couple things differently the outcome would be so different. I was rooting for them til the end. As much as Harvey keitel sounds like a nice cop he still wants to nail them. He has no choice. If they had just went to the cops when louise shot & killed that rapist they at the most would have gotten a great plea deal esp bc I'm sure thar creep has quite a history plus he said he was married I'm sure the wife has a lot to say & since he is dead I believe a wife can testify against a husband. At the least they might not have been charged since it was justifiable homicide. Louise was acting in defense of another human being in imminent danger. She stopped a rape & possibly a really bad beating & a case for murder. Technically by pulling the gun louise stopped the danger & shot him when the guy kept mouthing off. The cops did not have to know that . They could have said she shot him while he was in the act & Thelma 's battered face would back that up & fingerprints of the guys hands all over her underwear etc. Plus keitel found out louise was raped in texas which would have helped her case that she under the law snapped & was temporarily insane. Running gave the cops no choice but to charge them with murder. Then it snowballed w/ pitt stealing all their money & thelma feeling so bad about her blunder committed armed robbery & so on. I also liked watching thelma go from a walked on housewife to a strong confident woman. Plus u gotta love the love & loyalty between these friends. U never felt one would roll over on the other. Love this film.

No, you misunderstood. His complaint (and I agreed when I saw the film) is that it fades to white too quickly and rushes to the credits. They should have held the freeze-frame longer so it has a chance to sink in. It's too hurried. But I personally thought everything else worked.
@jedijones
@jedijones Жыл бұрын
He was not saying to show the crash. He said the freeze frame should've lasted longer before they started playing happy music and flashing back to earlier scenes in the movie for the credits. There was no time to contemplate the weight of what they had done.

Comedians are very polarizing: you either love them or hate them. I agree with Siskel and Ebert about Clay: he's vulgar and foul-mouthed but completely unfunny. He's lost a lot of celebrity status now so we don't have to put up with him. I'm surprised he hasn't succumbed to cancer or heart disease: he smokes more than anyone I know.

Maybe it's not a broad statement about all women. Maybe it's just about those 2 characters specifically, ya know? It's a heightened version of bad decisions that anyone young and desperate can make and how much it snowballs. I know seen through the lens of 2022 everything has to be a god damn political statement about all walks of life all the time, and if you step one toe out of line you and all your future descendents deserved to be shipped to North Korea. People use to be able to take chances without being beheaded and that was ok. Take care and come back now, ya hear

@@user-rh2io7gm1lthey killed a rapist. That was justified. As for the rest, the trucker had it coming, the store bit was to redeem themselves financially after Brad Pitt robbed them, and as for the cop, that was to show Thelma developing into a strong female character and standing up for her friend. I think you forgot that this is a movie, a piece of escapist entertainment.

How are you gonna say that this movie put women in a bad light when it emphasises the love, loyalty, and unity of the two ladies' friendship, and how together they are unstoppable? And Meanwhile, all of the men in the movie (except for Harvey Keitel's character) are portrayed in a very bad light, between a drunk rapist, a misogynistic and obnoxious truck driver, a creep who wouldn't grow up (Jimmy), a disrespectful, loud-mouthed and control freak of a husband (Daryl), and a young man who at first seems loyal and innocent, but then turns out to be a Thief (sorry to anyone reading this, who hasn't seen the movie. Lol). But regardless, the relationship between Thelma and Louise is the heart of the movie. And (in my opinion), makes for a very nice portrayal of women.
